For the last week I’ve spent what seems like uncountable hours working on save/load support. It’s that point in the project where it needed doing, so it is now done. Unfortunately, there isn’t really a lot to look at other than a compressed binary save file. As exciting as those bytes are, I’ve declined posting them here.
I did manage to sneak in a little bit of visual work mid-week. Been working on a kind of “entropic vaccine”… a little something to give the creeper what it wants, and in the mean time slow down its advance and buy you some time. Here’s a screenshot with it all hugging the ground. It looks more interesting in motion, but that will have to wait for the next video.
That looks like the creeper I know and love. *wonders if creeper will get buildings that control flow rate*
I hope it doesn’t get *buildings* per se—the enemy’s homogeneous, continuous nature is the biggest thing setting CW apart from other RTSs, IMHO!
Ooh, sounds like plasma.
if im getting this right. its going to flow more like the creep in the first/second/third game where a 20 emitter can reach your base but it will take time.
I’m looking forward to once again reliving the island missions from CW1.
This would be a perfect game for VR.
Can you please support VR?
How would an RTS control for VR? Sure, it’s more 3D than the first 3 games, but it’s still functionally 2D, given that it can be played from a top-down view.
It would be way more immersive.
If you ever played in VR you know whats the difference.
In this type of game you feel like a “god” who watches the world from above and make changes, you can just use your head to look around in your world etc…
CW4 would make an AMAZING VR game.
It’s always great to see progress, even if it’s just a picture!
I’m so happy to learn that you are busy making Creeper World 4! I greatly enjoyed CW 1 & 3, and I can’t wait to buy this one.
Its just my opinion but don’t you think a dynamic light source (like sun) maybe add atmosphere to map ?
