Additional Options... added to PM .

It would be nice if Additional Options... could be added to the PM .
Then we can PM pictures more easy , and we dont have to use an internet service for it .

Yes it would be really nice ,
and it should be possibel to add this without upgrading the game i think .
We just have to refresh or rejoin the Forum / Chat to make it work i think .

I know Virgil is very busy , but i still would like this to be added to the Forums PM ,
and to the chat as well .
It might happend if enought people support the idea ,

Today on the Internet, we don't only think of "nice to have" things, but we also must consider how evildoers can exploit that feature. There is no email without spam, no pictures without pornography and so on. Having the ability to PM attachments  may leave a wide hole for people to put unacceptable images on this site. At least with the [img] tag, the image also has to be stored on an image site and one would imagine that they have a policy to deal with and remove unacceptable images.

I think it is a small price to pay to NOT put this site at risk by doing without attachments in PMs.

Well getting an pic or an file over PM from someone from the forum that you "know" who are ,
shouldnt be an problem .
it would make it easyier to send an pic of an map of how you did it ,
or work on an map together witout makeing an public post about it .

I have used the forum for it a couple of times , and deleted the post when the person got it .

So an PM from someone you dont know who is , should make you think twice if the message does'nt make sense .

That is not the problem.

The problem arise if two or more people register and use this forum for the sole purpose of exchanging "stuff" via PM.

You would be surprised, but it does happen.

I've seen forums taken over by groups of nefarious people and it took 2 weeks and total invasion of all the other members' privacy to weed them out. And even after that time, under US laws, you may be guilty of a crime. Once the forum owner knows that something like that takes place on his forum, he becomes liable under US law if he does not notify law enforcement, and he may have to prove that he has no prior knowledge. Also, the authorities will immediately on notification take down the affected website and even worse, may confiscate the physical equipment of the hosting company.^*

We had a special lecture series  on computer security and law enforcement  here in the US. it was mega-cool, we got to write viruses and do hacking on a special network. Really fun. One of the guys had a special company to do ethical hacking for his customers.

This is one of the reasons many cyber-crimes go unreported to law enforcement. Once you notify the FBI, they will come in and confiscate every single computer they can lay their hands on as evidence. So if the crime you are reporting hasn't damaged you enough, then the FBI will surely put you out of business, since they will confiscate even your backups - everything.

If it's get abused we can report it , and the feature/option can be removed again .

Maybe it should be only possible for members that has posted more than xxx posts or something =)
