I can't even begin to hazard a guess as to the cost implications of this suggestion, but I'm putting it out there for consideration and discussion.

The completion screen should allow for a map rating to be submitted with the score.

Also, when posting a score, a screenshot of the map as it looked at the conclusion of the battle should be uploaded. The screenshots should then be linked to the completion score so other players can at least form an opinion on how scores were achieved.

Yes, that would be nice. Even a comment could be entered here.

I wouldn't like it when all my strategies are being revealed like this. I already give away a lot in my map comments, but I like to decide myself when and how much. (*Now see myself pausing the game after the rift activates to quickly destroy all structures on the map* ;))

Besides that, have you considered how much bandwidth those screenshots would cost?

So yes, I thought about it, but I did not attempt to quantify it.

A fundamental difference in our perspective. I believe that openness breeds improved gameplay and strategies.  But I can see that you, on the top of the score leader board, with near-magical times, might not want to encourage competition. :)

I remember when Hi, Siccles and Alwego competed on a story map (Corvus?) and best time on that map dropped like a stone. I think the invention and perfection of flying units came from that event.

Read the comments I wrote under my own maps (especially the last 5-6) and you'll know most of my tricks, approaches and strategies. This also goes for many other (hard) maps that I commented on.

I just don't want to give it all away from the start. Isn't finding the best solution yourself most of the fun/challenge? I find it much more satisfying and rewarding that way. And even more important: that's when you learn, not when you copy.

I think most people here know that I'll always help out. There's no hidden tactic that I never wrote about. Every map is different and the real gain comes from the experience after playing a lot of maps, so you'll know what to do and what to build from the start. One screenshot will only tell this for one map and people will have learned nothing, although they might be able to obtain a similar score for that particular map.

Finally, regarding competition, I can't have enough as I love it! I get a big smile on my face when Miss Melissa beats me on my own map. ;D (And she thinks exactly the same about revealing strategies as I do). For that reason I don't give it all away, but rather hand out tips step by step, so people start thinking and improve themselves. Most of the questions I've asked at these forums months ago were about the game mechanics (because that's where it all starts). Unfortunately there are still some black spots in there that apparently nobody has an answer to (except for one man).

It is useless to argue that issue. We stand on two different sides and often how one looks at it is a matter of nuances rather than absolutes.

I hear you and I understand what you say. I just don't agree with you in all aspects of this issue.

UpperKEES

Okay, then let's agree to disagree. :)

Still love ya!  :-*

You should be able to see the screenshots only after you beat their score.

it could just be a quick update to this game

hmmm...

On reflection I have decided that I will unsuggest the idea of auto uploading of screenshots. I suspect a large number of players might be uncomfortable with that idea. No game should contain anon-essential  feature that a significant part of the player pool will be unhappy with.

UpperKEES

Damn! We can't even agree to disagree! :P

Having a discussion and exchanging thoughts is something completely different than fighting, my son. Both Karsten and I love this game and we just like to consider all ins and outs in a respectful manner. Besides that we work very well together. :)

Now go back playing zombie! ;)
