I'm grateful to Saca for showing the way. Had he not posted his score first I would have persisted in my attempts at completing the map beyond the 9.30 mins point when it starts to become seriously annoying and the patience you refer to in the intro really comes into play. Thanks to Saca, the challenge became: "how to complete before the 4th wave" and it took some fiddling about and a few attempts to find out how.

So re the difficulty, this map is expert if you want to minimize annoyance. If you are not expert, you WILL be annoyed, but you might complete it (though in fairness part of the annoyance is due to the physical limits of the CW engine and no fault of the mapmaker).

All in all, this is quite a fine map. The tightness of CW1 gameplay (and what still sets it miles apart from its younger siblings) lies in the constant balancing of just three factors: Space, Time, Energy. This map does cool things by taking the "Energy" requirement to the extreme in an unconventional way.

Thanks Dad!!

Yes how very much different the scores would be across the 99 Story and 6000+ Custom maps if - Mr W had based the scoring on real time and not game time. In other words, by all means have the pause facility - extremely valuable on harder maps and of course to gain a quick time on all maps (especially on my map here) BUT base the game score on the actual time taken.

*** On second thinking ***
I think it's not so much there being no record of "real" game time that's getting your goat, but rather the fact that CW keeps no record of failed attempts and only posts completed scores. I am sure you would enjoy the inclusion of such a metric on the scoreboards....  ;D
