How do you test other peoples' maps even if they didn't release it yet?

Okay, you might be calling me a noob now, (well frankly I kinda am) but I NEED to know...
How would you be a map tester if someone hasn't released it yet?

thanks for info...

When posting, there's a button 'Attachments and other options', click that. Now you'll see 'Attach' and 'Choose file' (probably translated into your language). Choose a file and post like any other post and your post will have the file attached. Click 'more attachments' to add more than one file.

@ghostwalker13 -

I'll post here instead of in the map thread.

"Mesyat Redemption" would have been a great map to have someone play test for you. At first look, it appears to be a long hard fight, but you made the protection around the Inhibitor too strong.

I was able to take out all of the targets on the map (except the Inhibitor) in about 2 minutes, then pick off the Inhibitor after clearing out the Creeper inside the walls.

The advantage to having someone else play your map before uploading it is that they haven't been involved in the design/construction, and have no pre-conceived ideas of how it should be played. Too often, the map designer is so involved in the development, that they can't see a simple way to take out key targets quickly.

Many of the players monitoring this part of the forum have really solid skill sets and can help you make even better maps.

Thanks for all the work you're putting into these. Without mapmakers, the rest of us would stuck playing the pre-made maps.

1. Download a .cw3 file off the forums.
2. Open up the creeperworld3 folder somewhere on your computer.
3. Navigate from creeperworld3 to WorldEditor.
4. Create a folder in WorldEditor titled the name of the map you want to download. The name doesn't matter. You can put something like map1.
5. Move the cw3 file into your new folder.
6. Rename it save. As in save.cw3.
7. You can now play the map from within Projects.

"Obliterated" was a fun game to play.
Very nice design design/layout and took some thinking to get the right start.
With that said, I need to do some more thinking and get a better start.
Time of first run was 13:18, but will give it another go.
Thanks,
H

I'm so glad it worked.
When I tried it with my CW3, it just loaded up a new game.
It's nice hearing from someone who can download it, yay!

Im now excited...  ;D

ghostwalker13

Yah know what?
I might finalize the map. But it might need a few tweaks.
Like for example how the emitters are SO near the mainland, but we'll see what I did.  ;)
Can't wait for it.

ghostwalker13

Okay...
Map Finalized! WOOH!

It's called Obliterated ( of course ) and has some little tweaks.
You should be able to find it easily.  :P

I'm not sure if you guys are using this topic anymore, but I decided to post here anyways...

I'm making a new map called: Violos. You might remember this from the dialogue from Mesyat ( damnit, gave it away! ).

If you didn't already translate the binary to text, here it is:
01010110 01101001 01101111 01101100 01101111 01110011 = Violos

Hope you will enjoy this map when it's done.  :D

Hey guys! ghosty here. Not sure if this topic is dead yet, but I'ma gunna post here anyways.
I have completed work on Violos and I'm ready to post. Right now, I'm in the final stages and might be posting soon.
So... if you wanna have a sneak-peek at the map, I've attached the file to this post. That way, you can be a Beta/Alpha tester and you can tell me good/bad things about this map. Constructive criticism appreciated.

Thanks.

Got it.
In the middle of some other (RL) stuff right now, but will give it a go and get back to you.
