HALLELUJAH FIRST COMMENT! (I think) Great map and I think that was a bit overkill wasn’t it? With all those berthas and strafer’s I felt sorry for the creeper and wanted it to win XD! Please say that creeper world 3 doesn’t need java or I will never be able to get it! 🙁

I guess Creerp world 3 will be based on Acrobat Air like the 2 previous versions. I dont see anything why you should need java for creerper world.

No it’s not based on Air but not Java either. It’s in C# i think? Unity or something like that.

For the record: caffeine actually helps people with ADHD focus. My younger brother has it and when he doesn’t get his meds, a soda really helps him control himself.

And I thought you overbuilt in your last video! (Btw- I had gotten used to the noise of the music, then your ear splitting words came on at the end! Keep the video noise the same throughout the video. It could be the differance between a like or dislike!)

Quick question- I was thinking that since PC cannot shoot above its terrain height, can nullifiers do their jobs when the emitter is higher than the nullifier?
Keep up the good work 😀

    1. Weekendgamer
      Weekendgamer July 3, 2013 at 4:47 am |

Nullifiers needed line of sight in game 2, so I presume they would also not be able to nullify anything higher than itself

Would it be at all feasible to have a guppy re-supply at alternate pads? I just thought that the pads get resupplied long before the guppy returns, so why wouldn’t alternate guppies land there to pick up packets from a closer source? Obviously, if it’s not coded to happen, it wouldn’t, but it seems logical to me.

  7. Alluton
    Alluton July 2, 2013 at 2:04 pm |

When you moved your command node away from left island did you stop gaining any energy production from there or is there away for guppies to collect it?

    1. Outblasting
      Outblasting July 2, 2013 at 3:12 pm |

check the Mule mission video from a while ago. V created islands without nodes to provide an energy source. yet this function is being questioned since it was the first, aswell the last time guppys where able to transport raw energy and provide it to a node on another island. perhaps any of the beta testers or V himself can provide information here. else we have to wait until the release.

Well at least we got to know what the last AoO does^^ and it seems really cool. Look at the top left island at the beginnig of the video and at 5:00. A huge crater and the emmiter seems destroyed 😀 Pure awesomnes can’t wait to play this game^^

    1. pawel345
      pawel345 July 2, 2013 at 3:43 pm |

On a second look the Fire MASS doesn’t destroy the emmiter just blows a hole in the ground, he had a bunch of normal wepons up there after the video jumped (between 4:51 and 4:52) so the emitter was probably taken care of usin a nullifier.

I’m sorry to be a negative nancy and it’s of course only my personal opinion, but my interest in CW3 seems to be diminishing bit by bit since you have started posting these guest videos. No commentary, low skill of the player, overbuilding, awful music – all of this after watching somehow leaves me more irritated and less excited about the game.

I would much prefer to get a weekly text post about what you’ve been working on and what’s left like the devs of Starbound do.

        Lich98 July 2, 2013 at 7:31 pm |

I hate to say that I am rather insulted by this comment. Commentary takes away from game play and I use the accual game music in more recent (I recorded these like 2-3 weeks ago) but respectfully virgil doesn’t want to release the game music yet. If the music bothers you, mute it, and “low skill” is not a god term to use because everyone plays differently if you don’t like my style, dont watch.

        1. DoomChez
          DoomChez July 3, 2013 at 9:43 am |

I personally agree with Lich, do you want to spend a good 45 minutes talking about something? I can imagine that its pretty hard, and if his gameplay style is slightly different to yours, the last thing you do is say the equivalent of “Your c**p” to his face. You can easily fix the music with mute, and how is he supposed to attack the islands without over-building? It seems the only way possible, so I’d like to see you do it with 5 strafers, 3 bombers and 1 bertha, because I think that’s pretty much impossible.

    4. pawel345
      pawel345 July 3, 2013 at 1:49 am |

I think Virgil not posting means mostly that we have seen all the features he wanted us to see before the release, and it is quite probable that the videos are from a build much earlier than the one they are testing now. And commenting on the skill of a player in a game you have never played and is not even out now seems a bit funny.

I feel like these map are way to easy. to much room, creeper can’t reach you… Overbuilding is way to easy that way. I remember in creeper 1 when the creeper was cascading down hills and you had to put a turret or 2 to barely protect your nodes… then slowly force it into pits and build a missile turret to keep the pits at low level and slowly taking control of the map 1 step at a time.

Of course, at the end you didn’t need to overbuild that way since the 3 green “flowers” were almost powered…

My excitement about the game is less every time I see those easy maps… Just pause, throw a couple hundread of nodes, reactors, wait a minute or two they build… then comes the weapons… Almost all of them are long range… Long range berthas, flying anti-creaper, flying drones (which is not bad when you have 2-3-4 of them… not 26)… No threat to you bases… No challange.

When creeper is low send in the lasers and missiles et voilà.

    1. Omegatron
      Omegatron July 3, 2013 at 12:04 pm |

That’s only because these maps have islands you can land at with no emitters, not every map will be like that.

    2. Icen
      Icen July 3, 2013 at 1:21 pm |

I have to agree with Louis.

all recent videos look as he described. There is no need for strategy you only need collectors -> reactors -> berthas -> no thinking

I don’t like maps that pose a threat to command node but I like maps that can’t be won just by building berthas and you need to think how to win. It was fun to see first 3 videos how great berthas are but with each vid I get the Feeling (green day) other units are useless.

      1. Lich98
        Lich98 July 3, 2013 at 10:28 pm |

Check the last video that one required some heavy thinking

    3. Vkfan
      Vkfan July 3, 2013 at 3:06 pm |

      quote…
but the units will still be tweaked (cost, range etc… especially berthas.) and (i hope) virgil will add some other mean of creeper trasportation between isands.
one way to deal with the op bertha could be less damage as the bullets fly further: by this way, you can fill your second line of low-efficiency berthas (stealing space that could be used for energy farms) or put on the frontline a ddd bertha, stealing room for your other weapons, limiting his overbuild capabilities

    4. pawel345
      pawel345 July 3, 2013 at 3:52 pm |

If you watch the DMD map device video, you can clearly see that there is a whole settings pane in which you can set up all sorts of enemies, so one can easily increase difficulty of the levels. The fact that many of the videos have a similar play style is because they are made by the same person and that is what type of maps he likes and the way he plays, so when the game comes out you can play under the settings that you like. As for creeper transportation between islands there is digitalis, it was turned of in most of Lich98 videos and adding it would probably significantly change the tactic.

    5. Koker93
      Koker93 July 3, 2013 at 7:33 pm |

@Louis – there are a lot of maps already created that have lots of initial strategy required. There are a couple that try as often as I have, I cannot get an initial foothold to defeat the map. There is one that utilizes the wind effect that Virgil demonstrated a couple of months back that was quite satisfying when I finally defeated it. CW3 has a LOT more functionality than 1 or 2. You will not be disappointed.

  16. sweetdude64
    sweetdude64 July 3, 2013 at 2:13 pm |

If you all really want a hard map, don’t use void. BOOM! You just basically created CW1 with new units. I’m sure there will be plenty of difficult maps. Besides, if you make mistakes, this map COULD be somewhat of a challenge. What if you did not realize an emitter was hidden on an island that you put your infrastructure on? What if every island had an emmiter? There are countless strategies to countless maps! With that, I bid all of you a good day ^.^

    1. nrjp
      nrjp July 3, 2013 at 4:16 pm |

That, plus you will not start out with all of the tech, as in other CWs. Even a map with islands could become difficult without berthas if it has air exclusion towers.

      1. DoomChez
        DoomChez July 5, 2013 at 9:38 am |

Also, if you made it so that there were rapid growing digitalis paths linking all of the islands this could be a much more difficult map, and by rapid I mean RAPID (e.g 3 squares in any direction per second)

    2. Kharnellius
      Kharnellius July 7, 2013 at 9:46 am |

I don’t understand why Creeper can’t cross void. It did in CW2…why not make it that it just crosses at a much slower rate. At its currently setting it pretty much will never cross the void unless you accidentally walk away from your computer for a few hours. 😛

  17. DoomChez
    DoomChez July 3, 2013 at 2:19 pm |

It would be nice if you could build your own city in the “My Sector” button and you can train emitters and spore towers to attack your friends, and train pulse cannons and other buildings so you have starting defences, this would also add a multiplayer twist to it which would make it even more exciting!

  18. Kurt Werle
    Kurt Werle July 3, 2013 at 3:14 pm |

This reminds me – with all the initial setup in this movie. One of the changes I’d like to see (and I’m thinking it ought to be pretty easy) is that it would be nice to show the *pending* coverage of solar collectors while you’re placing more. Just like you can see anti-spore coverage while placing additional anti-spore units in CW1.

I know it’s late in the day to be asking for new features – but hey, I’m a user!

    1. Istaro
      Istaro July 3, 2013 at 8:37 pm |

That is a superb idea. I quite enjoy the initial mini-game of trying to get as much collector coverage as possible with as few collectors as possible, and your suggestion would make that a lot smoother.

    2. me_me_me
      me_me_me July 4, 2013 at 5:39 am |

Um just a bit of lore: they are not solar collectors. They are some sci-fi fractal energy generators and the reactors are singularity reactors if I remember correctly. CW1 & CW2 take place 10k+ years in the future so solar is kinda primitive. 😀

I love this game, but I just though, that after you set up and defend first creeper wave,
then you are almost always able to win.
What if emmiters would be getting more and more powerfull with every minute of game?
