The "Plugin" Mentality
This mode was designed with portability in mind. It has been optimized to run anywhere on any map by using input variables to specify where it should look for its images.
To make sure people can find all Particle maps together, please add the hashtag #Particles to your map description when you upload.
How to set up Particles on your map
To add this “Plugin” to your map:
Download the scripts and images
here.
Put the images somewhere you can find them (for beginners, put it in your project folder to avoid the in-game file browser and its peculiarities). Put the scripts in the scripts
folder under your project name in the WorldEditor
folder in your creeperworld3
folder.
Have your map open in the editor. Click “Edit map”, then the “Units” tab, and finally click the “Scripts” button. If you have done this right, “Particle.crpl” and “ParticleEmitter.crpl” should be listed.
Hit the “COMPILE ALL” button once. As long as you've not modified the scripts (and all other scripts, if any, have been debugged), this should not give any errors.
Click “CLOSE”.
Click the button that reads “Custom Images”.
For beginners: Assuming you have no other images already, click “Select” on the first little box that says “None” and in the new menu that comes up click the name “RedParticle.png” and click “Open” at the bottom. Do the same for the next box but open “ParticleEmitter.png”. For experienced users: put the previously downloaded images anywhere you like, just remember the names of those image slots.
Click the small blue button on the panel that says “CORE”, then move your mouse over some void space on your map and press “b” on your keyboard.
Double click on the tile that just appeared. A menu will come up.
In this menu, click the dropdown menu, select “ParticleEmitter.crpl”, and press the nearby button “ADD”
A box should appear in the menu immediately below the dropdown menu. Select “ParticleEmitter.crpl” in that box.
There should be yet another box below this box with a scrollbar.
Scroll down to the bottom of these settings. You can play around with the first few settings later as you perfect your map.
In the input box to the right of “EmitterImageSlot”, put the image slot you assigned “ParticleEmitter.png” to (For beginners: this should be set to Custom1
if you had no other images).
In the input box to the right of “ParticleImageSlot”, put the image slot you assigned “RedParticle.png” to (For beginners: this should be set to Custom0
if you had no other images).
Click the button “APPLY VALUES & RECOMPILE”, then hit the CLOSE button.
Save your map
Click Load
Continue making the rest of your map.
