In the intro, I'm confused... humanity had colonized thousands of worlds, and when the creeper came, 50 world fell on the first day. Of the average of 10 billion people on each of these thousand and some worlds, 50,000 managed to survive. if they had at least.... 20 days to plan for the loki coming, and the entire story took 20 days, I would think more people would have made it to safety. I think Im seeing something wrong here, can someone plz explain? I'm making a plot summary for creeper world 1, from the point of view of the commander. It should be neat, but I need to figure out this gap.

The way I see it, humanity did have some time between the start of the attacks and the beginning of Creeper World 1. However, a lot of that time was probably lost to panic and figuring out just how to fight off this oozing menace that appeared from nowhere. A lot more people died during this time.

However, the Creeper's attacks were utterly overwhelming, and what defense could be mounted only gave humans enough time to prepare their last ditch efforts for survival, in the form of Odin City.

But you'd think with their access to rift space and all, more people would have been able to flee their home planets and get to safety before they were overwhelmed by creeper.

From what I know, they could only access Rift Space through Totems...

Until Creeper World 2.

It probably already took some time to populate and create OC, and as with every disaster (look at the EHEC bacteria nowadays) the government probably reacted too late or minimized the problem.

And the Commander was the only one that got help from Platius in where to rift to and what to do.

Don't forget, the Creeper was attacking *everywhere*. There were no safe places in the galaxy, and the only way to survive was to keep moving, staying one step ahead of the Creeper. As for why more people didn't survive, Platius only personally intervened for a small group, and the technology needed to create a self-sustaining, mobile city probably wasn't easy to make. Building it also took a while.

true. Alright, I think I have the information I need, the first parts of my plot summary will be up in just a moment.

Also, people who may have heard of the construction of Odin City may have been killed by the creeper while trying to find their way to Hope.  :'(

They probably did escape. That's why you find survival pods and artifacts everywhere. Escaping just wasn't that effective a tactic without a giant city that can produce huge guns because the creeper would find you.

Also, what happened to the old man?? He assembled all of humanity, oversaw the construction of Odin city, then sent them on their way with a note, while he stayed behind to be eaten by the creeper, and no one questioned it. (yes, I know he wasn't eaten, but the people in OC wouldn't have known that)

I always thought of the people who built OC were like some crazy cultists(to the outside observer), who took off to an uninhabited planet to build the city. They built the city a head of time, preaching a message of a creeper-doomsday. Only said 50,000ish people decided to partake.

As far as all the planets being killed off with none surviving.. well like others said, they were overrun, and all in a panic. the common military weapons were likely inappropriate for fighting creeper.. yet.. It is hard to believe they ALL died... at the time the game came out, i assumed.. 1- they couldn't run anywhere,  as everywhere was being covered..  and, 2- all the likely millions that escaped into space were picked off by spores, that were deliberately aimed..

but there are not urr.. "right" answers for the plot holes,

good luck on your summery  :)

thanks! it's coming along pretty well so far, dispite all the holes... I have the Old Man mysteriously vanishing somewhere between taurus and fitch.
