Is there a special condition to get the sweepers to work? I have plenty of liftic and they will build fine, just they won't turn on?

it would seem that the level is virtually unplayable without.

Sweepers worked fine for me, although I didn't use one until I got to the final island.  Took a while to get there but I like long maps. Plenty to do on this one.
