The more time passes the easier the level gets as emitters shut off. If the level is too hard to win, just Hunker Down for a bit before making the next push. At some point all the emitters will turn off but you should be able to win before that happens (before the posted score).

You make maps with unique gameplay, keep it up!

My hypothesis is that you had to fly Odin City for 100 minutes to submit that score. You get points for perseverance, but hardly for anything else.  It's not, IMHO fun or anything I'd want to do with almost two hours of my time.

Timbo

I agree. I can't see how to "hunker down" in this map, unless that means flying Odin city around for an hour until creeper subsides.

Negative; flying the city around until all the emitters shut off would be incredibly boring but more importantly it would not work.  There would still be a full level of creeper across the map since none of the absorbing emitters are on the first level.  That means even after they all turn off the creeper on the floor would not go away so you would die as soon as you land.  You need to establish a base before the creeper punches through the wall.

OK, I have a question.  If nobody but you post a score, then will you consider this map a successful map? What metric do you use for success? number of downloads, number of map rating or number of players posting a score? Perhaps something entirely different?

Well lets see the map was posted on June 12. And you complain one day later that noone has posted a score.

Give it a chance will you? I so far havent seen a map by BermanPost that couldnt be beat.

I was merely curious about the author's perception. Frankly I don't care if/when a score is posted, although I can tell you every new map usually gets a few scores within the first few hours.

I appreciate your support Callean, but it is a legitimate question.  Unfortunately, I do not think I will have a satisfying answer for you Karsten75.  I have seen that people tend to give low ratings to levels they can not beat so since I make (or at least try to make) tough maps I know they may not score high.  Similarly, some people avoid the more difficult maps so I figure the maps will not get as many downloads as ones marked easier.  Again the the same vain, the tougher the map the less people will beat it (and the longer it will take those who do) so score posting may be low.

I make maps mostly to relax so a successful map to me is doing just that; the creating.  On a less abstract level, I like creating difficult levels with tricks or that require unique strategies.  Coming up with that unique game play is another success.  Ok; that is still relativity abstract.  Success to me is creating a tough map even by veteran players standard's.

Karsten75

Good answer - thanks. I will look forward to see if someone will eventually give hints on how to beat this one. All my attempts have been in vain. Clearly I'm not in the echelon for whom you write maps. :)

I tell people how I beat the map if they ask me, though I careful to wait until actually asked and put spoiler tags around it to not give it away to those who want to figure it out on their own.

*** Minor SPOILER ***
Here comes a hint (and as I said, I can outright tell you if you really want to know) - the trick is get as much power in as confined an area as possible by the time the creeper break through requiring as few Blasters as possible to protect your base.

Karsten75

Yea, that's more or less what I figured. But my attempts with as many as 8 blasters failed by getting overrun with creeper. I've experimented with moving OC to a side location where I have to defend fewer positions, but I'm not sure  that helped  either.

I don't think 6 blasters will cut it, but to keep them all supplied with ammo I might give it one more try with fewer blasters.

That is the trick.  You have to move the city (I moved it down) so that you only have three sides to defend.  You have to keep making energy and only produce the blasters at the end cutting it as close as possible.

Tried a few more times, feel like I'm getting close...., but not quite there. At least, I can see some possibility of completing this map with enough effort.

I did it... finally thanks for the help
