I think the author missed something important here... and why is the game called 'Hell' when you play it? If this is hell, I'll settle for it anyway!

The author tried to offer a dual-choice map. You could either rush the totems or spend time fighting the flood of creeper. What he has not thought about is that the game is really all about connecting the totems and leaving - hence all scores are based on that. Few will stick around  and simply fight the creeper since eventually they also have to connect the totems and when they do their scores will be way down, making them look like inferior gamers with low scores.

There had been a few dual-choice maps in the past. All ended with most people playing them for the higher score, choosing not to engage in an unneeded battle.
