Early expansion may not be in your best interest with this spore survival level.

Spore dying level is more like it.  I have no idea of how to survive this one.

Not that much of an issue. Took 2 restarts to figure out the author's advice was inconsequential. I did, however lose focus and decided to just slug it out, rather than actively fight - hence my pathetic time. Using proper techniques should probably cut 30+ minutes off my time and fighting on 3 or more fronts (which I hate, may cut another 10 or so).

Here, some quick start pictures. Last one is after 2nd wave of spores.

There is a lot of time to land a CN at the north centre spore and one at the south centre one, eliminate the spores to ease the pain. The South one can easily be connected to your main base.

I didn't think of trying to grab that much territory at the start.  That would help solve the power problems.

Aside from the north one you mention, you can also assassinate the one below it and even one or two runner nest (using the easter main base so you can have a PZ or two to place beams, a great spot since two spore towers at directly west to it.  Not sure if you can bunker up at the middle spore tower though.

I liked this map especially because of the intense spores - they almost got me!  :o

I considered hitting multiple fronts, but I hate my forces being scattered (I totally agree with Karsten on that) - because that means my BRAIN will be scattered - I opted to just land one CN in the "safe zone". I used the other two to set up a defensible position on the southern island to have an easy line of attack on the spore tower & two emitters there.

This game is won or lost in about 4 minutes. After that, you're either dead or just cleaning up. My last game save was at 3:20 - after that there was no sense of any "threat", so no need to save or pause.

For me, the huge size of the map is a bit of a drawback for a few reasons:
1) The larger the map, the slower things run
2) A smaller map with the same level of emitters & spores would be more challenging
3) Cleanup is a lot faster.
You disagree with this sentence, don't you?
