Not sure exactly what the opening text means, but I'm guessing it means something like, "Hey, don't actually bother with playing the map - just see how fast you can kill the nullifier!"  :P

Side note - After playing this for over a year, I just now realized how to use the "N" as a step function during pause. Comes in very handy for getting short times on "Did I forget to defend the inhibitor??" maps like this one.  ;D

You disagree with this sentence, don't you?

I'm taking Italian at the moment, let me see how rubbish my translation skills are.

"Commander, the planet Figueiri was(?) attacked(?). This menace(?) does not seem to have a name, but it has sent us a message."

Google says "sotto attacco" means "under attack." There appears to be a double space before it, probably missing an è (is).
Pretty sure I'm supposed to be banned, someone might want to get on that.

Ah, thanks for that! I actually know a lot of Italian. Yanno, words like spaghetti, lasagna, pizza, vermicelli, alfredo, etc.... that kind of Italian is like second nature to me.  ;D

Since I didn't see any words like that in the description, I figured it must mean, "Hey! I left the inhibitor unprotected! Just kill it and win fast!" - but maybe I'm translating the nature of the map itself more than the dialogue.

Best of luck with your Italian class. Hopefully Google Translate will never make the need for foreign language skills obsolete.  ;)

Have you ever tried putting something in, translating, then reversing the translation? You may be surprised.

Google Translate has of the always perfect translator doing for feathers. Every sentence is happy in always booking to the accuracy because meaning is major. Not familiar how to speak, "I love you" to the special girl on your table? Simply say her, "Wow! Your eye pulses fat jelly tonsils every time my heart belches!" That gives you lucky joy on blankets in morning!

Hi guys! This is my first message on the Forum, but I felt like adding some explanation to this map. :D

1) I actually didn't know that a forum page got automatically created for EVERY map uploaded.

2) This map wasn't meant to be final, it was/is a work in progress and the opening text doesn't make much sense in Italian either (at least for now :D). I really only wanted to share that with a couple of friends, wasn't meant for the public lol.

3) Judging by some comments, I'm guessing you can safely reach the emitter and place a nullifier there before the delay ends.
Let me check...

Yes, done, oh well, you gotta start somewhere XD and it's good to have had this feedback, will surely fix that in the final version.

4) Do you have some suggestions for uploading maps to be tested? (Like this one was) Should I just add "beta" or something like that to the name next time?

Your translation was perfect actually. :D

As for the double space, yes, the "è" is not an accepted character it seems. Will use "e'" (or directly English :) ) for the final release (which, Inhibitor bug aside, will be harder anyway :) )

GoodMorning

Thank you for your time and interest.

If a map requires testing, you can put it up in the Custom Map Discussion board with an appropriately named topic.

I played the map through again without going for the inhibitor right away and it's a decent map. Keep up the good work!

The MAIN thing if you're wanting to use an inhibitor is to guard it very well. Make sure an insta-win is impossible and that will help immensely.

Thanks for taking the time to make maps!

I usually don't go for the ultra fast win and play maps by establishing a secure base and expanding out.  Playing that way, it's a fun map; not very difficult to establish an early base, you can grab a couple PZs right away, and it's a small map so there isn't much of a slog-fest to clean up.  For a final product, I would recommend making the initial base a little tougher to get started, or at least to expand early.  Also, the two unprotected spore towers in the lower right can be destroyed right from the beginning with no risk.  An emitter in the lower right or one of the towers replaced by an emitter would make early PZs tougher to obtain.

Once I finished and saw the insanely low times I went back and saw the inhibitor doesn't start flowing creeper right away so I went for the quick kill.  I've tried several times but can't seem to get much below 50.  I've tried a few different techniques, but just don't see how people are getting down as low as 45.  I've tried the following ... what else can be done to improve the time?
Spoiler

  • Landing one CN with a nullifier and nothing else (1:12)
  • Land one CN, build one collector then the nullifer (1:11)
  • Land one CN, build two collectors then the nullifier (1:12)
  • Land one CN, build a collector and a nullifier in parallel (1:13)
  • Land one CN connected to a nullifer, land the other two CNs further away (one right of inhibitor, one left and down from first CN) , let them fill up to 3/4 full, then fly them to where they are connected to the first CN/nullifier to help build the nullifier (49.5)
  • Same as above but let first CN charge to 10 before starting nullifier so it stays positive the whole time (51.5)

The second-to-last one gave me the best time.  I've tried different variations of how much to let them fill up before bringing them in and the best time was with them charged to 3/4 full so that they just ran out of energy when the nullifier was ready to fire.  Sending them less full or more full increased the time to about 51.

I just don't see another way to improve the time.  Obviously there's something I don't know about; any suggestions?

Hey, I'm not as crazy fast as EA or Alter Old, but here's how mine looked when I got finished... Hope this helps!

Spoiler
The two CN's on either side help to give power to the CN that's "floating" in the middle. (Moving back & forth so you're hovering directly over the nullifier helps it to build faster. If you really want to do that sort of thing.)

Hmm... I had thought of that, but had been focused on the 2nd and 3rd doing that instead of the first.  I'll have to give it another shot.  Thanks.

So! After a bit of time I've finally completed the new version of the map.

You can find it here.
Let me know in that thread if you can still cheap your way out :)
(The map is drastically changed, too ;) )
