And the martians still invade Great Britain because British stole their original Jelly recipe... Special thanks to GAMBIT for playing the fist buggy version of this map

kalek

Hope this time it's bug free.

Congratulations and many thanks to the players who did the previous version with bugs in 5 seconds.

Because of that, last night, Satya Nadella call me to work on the next Window version, but I said :"Thanks, Satya, it's very kind of you, but i prefer doing rotten maps in CW3." He said :" Phil, I give you 2 million dollars year, we absolutly need original bugs to remain the best of the world...", I said "No, no thanks, I don't like money, I prefer to be paid in "1" by wonderful players", he said : " ok, ok, maybe next time". I said :"Thanks Satya for calling", and I went to bed.

A good map. I don't recall Wells mentioning giant spitting frogs, but maybe I am looking in the wrong places.

It took a while to figure out how to get a stable connection past the UFOs.
Spoiler
Relays, weapons, and AC.

How many viable start points are there? I am not good enough for but the south, but I suspect someone better might conquer from the north faster. Then again, I found a strategy in the elder one, and don't really like AC at the best of times (i.e. only used when the less finite energy is insufficient, limited, or otherwise contraindicated.)

The 2x L/R flow rate causes some interesting effects.

(H is the help key in the PaC maps, too.)

Bug in the elder: Could be that you have run out of CountsForVictory:TRUE cores at 5s, processing order could explain the intermittent behaviour. This might be because you have cores AscendToOrbit-ing. I haven't bothered to go through the scripts in detail, just a glance, but this seems likely.
A narrative is a lightly-marked path to another reality.

Your right, but there was no " Lunardi aircraft armed with Royal Air Force Kamikaze Bullets"  too !

I had to update a litlle the original story (without Tom cruise).  :)

Thanks for the infos on the bug, I thought it was related to this, as the map was beginning without any enemies.

Regarding passing the UFO you found out, that why I made the UFO shooting back with a spore if hit by a sniper !

Ok, well I came in last place!!

I did not realise until about the 40 min mark that:

Spoiler

Her Majesty will not be proud of you this time !
But maybe your are from Scotland and would have prefer defend Drumnadrochit ?  (Martians are afraid of Nessy) ;)
I imagine that you have seen your nullifier kidnapped many times ...

Thanks for your comment and playing this one too.

Haha, no I am indeed from Good Ol Blighty! The balloons were my favourite touch, super work old boy.

I agree, Balloons are great. (i expect this to be the acme of the game). They are real Lunardi ones, a great Italian/British aeronaut from 18th century who act in... Scotland !

How do you start this one?  I'm being killed very quickly no matter what I do.

here is a way :

Spoiler

Start at the top (grey square). Grab energy quickly, build 2 beams, grab more energy, build sprayer and canon, more beams,
grab more energy, grab ore, build reactor etc... don't be too afraid of the sporetower nearby , it takes 10 minutes to build, you'll have time, once you will have secure the place to destroy it.  When your base is secure, try to go with relay to the Lunardi workshop. Always beware of the spores,  shoot the "frog tripod" with snipers this will give you ac...

I was wrong ! You deserve the Victoria Cross ! GB is safe (and jelly recipe too). Bravo !!

GoodMorning

I just remembered, Kalek: Great text on the projectiles :). How did you fix the bug?

A walkthrough:
Spoiler

You can start at the top for speed or the bottom for security. I'll assume the bottom.
There's a hill that's secure for a while. Land there, grab the resource packs, and convert them into the cut-price Reactors.
Build Ore Mines, then Beams, Mortars, and at least two Snipers. The Snipers should have time to destroy the nearby Spore Tower.
Move the Snipers to the eastern hill so that they arrive slightly before the Tripod. They will kill it, and it will flood out AC... for a while.
Don't bother with the Nullifier, it gets abducted whenever built (actually, it may not in this version, I was playing the old one... but it's still easier not to use it.) The flat ground near there is easy to hold, though.
The Creeper here moves very fast and very thin, so Blasters are ineffective. You're out of shields, and Kalek objects to you Terping all over xir map, so AC for the flat and Mortars to exploit any height difference are a must.
A Forge helps significantly, but space can be at a premium. Ore upgrades are a particular help.
Those Spore Towers are all Snipable. I couldn't shoot down the UFOs, though, and they retaliate with Spores.
Once cleared, there are spots you can place Snipers to get the tripod just as it leaves the nest. Tripods respawn immediately when killed, but pop to give AC. So, immediate destruction costs more for Snipers, but less Creeper is on the map. Your call.
Press right, and take the Ore. It's easier now, isn't it?
You have the capacity to build a PC cloud by now. Use Mortars to clear your way right by hitting pools of Creeper. Remind you of CW1 yet?
Land the Blaster cloud on the UFO path. They can help bridge it, or can safeguard Relays to either side of the path. Either way...
Grab the other Ore. North from here, and connect the workshop. Once it finishes, the map will be easier.
You will have filled one factory incidentally on the way. The others require a similar bridging tactic to that used earlier.
Grab the Nullifier as you get the left factory, and fly out some Snipers ready to deal with the Tripods when the factories are full. Nothing more spawns once the factories fill, so a Sniper-based cleanup is in order.

Thanks, found this funny too.

For the bug, Just add a Countforvictory TRUE in Wessex image and an  item to collect. This way the map is not free of enemies at  launch.

yum-forum

Again fantastic animation action game! Not easy. Especially start and bridge over pterodactyl path.
Beautiful Design and well done scenario of game play. Thank You for good job!  :)

Small hint:

Spoiler
I find that Spore Towers can be easy destroyed by sending two loaded snipers.
Just land it near Spore Tower surrounded by Creeper. Enough energy and time to kill Tower. Then return back, reload and send to another destination.  :D

A better way:
Spoiler

Pick them up before they die, they'll regenerate on the way to the next one. Use three, and they'll have the power to take out all of the relatively remote Spore Towers.
