Got me, I can't survive the spore storm.

It is a tough start (followed by a fairly tough middle and end).

After trying a few times, the trick to the start seems to be

Get the forge on line and grab the ether crystals as soon as you can. 900 ether goes a long way.

Building Reactors and Beams first worked well, and gradually add weapons. Taking islands progressively... Forge can wait until a few islands are captured. Add a Terp, and use Cannons, cycling, to open up first big island and take out Emitter. Once you get a Forge, beware the Blasters letting Creeper off the Digitalis. Build a Bertha, and later rebuild on AE PZ. Relays are your friend, and there are places you can advance your CN to. It' slang, but not hard, to finish. Remember the air units, and Nullify what you can.
