Desc:
A planet in a distance solar system long torn asunder will bear witness to raging battle. #PaC #CRPL (My first Play as Creeper map feedback would be appreciated)

Made a spelling mistake/typo: in-between "to" and "raging" there should be a A

An highly enjoyable play. I liked the moving ac spore tower enemies. Definitely will play this one a second time.

These "PAC" games are always so highly rated, but I can never get anything to happen.
In this one, I can get a little bit of Digitalis going in the upper left hand corner, but nothing else.
Is there a thread anywhere discussing the techniques for playing these?
Thanks,
H

Helper,

Last month mzimmer posted a very nice tutorial here:

http://knucklecracker.com/forums/index.php?topic=17572.0

Some of the controls have changed slightly so be aware of that but for the most part that tutorial is still accurate. Start there and have fun! These maps are a blast.

stdout - thanks much.
I'm going to try again with that link and the game open at the same time.
Maybe I can tutor myself.

Here's a few tips that should help:

- Any time you have deep enough creeper, build digitalis (I normally press R a bunch of times when building digitalis to it's the biggest size circle).  You can do stuff to remove digitalis (such as an emitter in the void), but that's more advanced and isn't normally required in PAC maps.
- Usually supporting one emitter with all the other ones is going to help you push forward better than having multiple fronts. You can select an emitter, then press T to have all others support it.
- Timing spores to land at the exact same time can easily overpower beams. Do this by selecting your spore towers, then press R. You should see a red circle below each spore tower. This will put it in a standby mode so that the time still reduces to 0, but the spore won't launch until you set a target. Once all spore are at 0, set your target for the furthest spore tower. Then wait until the spore gets as far away as the next furthest tower - then launch that tower. As spores get closer to the target, continue setting the same target for the spore towers that are about as far away as the spores in the air. You should end up with a big clump of spores that will hit very close together.
- If the think you destroyed everything, but the game hasn't ended, put your spore towers in auto-target mode by selecting one, then press Y. They will target any enemy left on the map.
- Try to get totems early on and keep digitalis near then. The more totems you have the more powerful your field will be.
- Use your field to push from your main emitter to wherever you want to go.
- When targeting spores to kill a beam, you don't need to target the beam, just target somewhat near it. When the spore lands it should spread creeper wide enough to kill the beam (beams have really low health too). That also allows your spore to have less time in the air near the beam, so its less likely to be shot down by the beam.

There's plenty of other techniques, but the are the basic ones I use.

All good stuff - I'm actually progressing.
Had a Spore Tower in the first PZ, then decided to replace it with an Emitter when it got destroyed.
Now I want the Spore Tower back.
How do I remove a structure after it has been built?
Thanks,
H

Select, then press Shift+X, just like normal game. This also works if you have multiple towers selected (just be careful not to destroy all your emitters because it kills all the digitalis and you can't get it back.

Yikes!
Of course - thanks.
I'm slowly working my way through this - thanks to all the advice posted.
Have a second Spore Tower now and am commencing to wreak a little havoc.

I'm excited for you, Helper. There's a lot of maps for you to enjoy now that you're getting your legs stretched.

Once you get to a point where you can have 15+ spores annihilate a base, you'll never go back :D

I just started playing on a whim and got so frustrated that I turned here first.
Got you on speed dial and will call for help.

I lost track of how many Spore Towers I ended up with, but am sure it was more than 15. Those PZ Beams were murder.
It took a lot of playing around with attack methods, and I'm still not sure how to approach this style of play. Will try that 'easy' game and see if I can muddle through.

Bug:  The rail-runners continue to move while the game is paused.  I don't think they fire, though.
