You could try moving up some dummy units to draw mortar fire, then remember to replace them every so often as you work your way through.

To storm the final emitters, I built about 50 mortars in the safe zone and moved them all at once right on top of the emitters. They kept the area clear long enough to build relays and nullifiers.
