This is a slight edit of the awesome map Monopoly (Map #983) by the author: MS. The original map was an incredible piece of work but the lack of a totem near the start, along with a lack of mortar tech early, made the game unenjoyable for me. So this version is an easier one and can be finished under an hour. :) Thanks to MS for this awesome map. Changes: Added a totem in the Go spot and aded a single mortar tech early.

What in the world is the point of the final group of beams?  I see no way to get it before killing the last spore tower.

I wondered that myself. Given the effort that the original author put into this map, you'd think it wouldn't have the issues that it had.

I don't see any way for this to not be a very long grind. A single Terp would have improved game play a great deal; as would some air units. Slogging through any game for nearly an hour just isn't very much fun. No danger of losing at any point - just kill some Creeper and move to the next block.
Improving the original version was a very good idea, but wish you had 'improved' it a bit more.
:)

Thanks,
H

Man I agree with you and I played my "improved" version only once and never again. I love the idea of the monopoly map but you're right that there's no danger. Just fighting forward inch by inch (or millimeter by millimeter.)

I had thought about adding terps and flying machines (even considered throwing in Berthas) but I didn't want to get too far away from the author's original intention. I guess if I was going through the trouble of updating someone else's map I should have just gone all out and done what I wanted to do. If this happens again I'll give myself more freedom to do that.

Great minds run in like channels!
You have my unofficial permission (worthless though it is), to go all the way when re-making a map.
I should have made it a point to compliment the original map maker. Great concept and a bit reminiscent of the outstanding "Squares" games in CW2.

ps - thanks for the tip on Olaf. Will give it another go.

You're welcome. :)

What would be cool is another remake of this map but with some CPRL where if you build a reactor (as if it was a hotel) on Meditteranean then it gives you a little energy. But then the more valuable the property, the more powerful the reactors become. A reactor on Boardwalk would add something ridiculous like 100 energy. You have to conquer the entire board and then to win the game you take out free parking where a large emitter is waiting.

Whoa Nellie!
Now you're talking. When can you have that done?
:)

If Meditteranean gives 6 (or 2), Boardwalk should give 40 (or 50, depending on if you use buy prices or rent). Being able to start in two directions would probably make it better if the final emitter is on free parking. You might also use the buy hotel prices for building reactors and hotel rent for energy output (I should be able to give them all without looking at the board or cards, so don't fool me =P). I think building the standard monopoly game is too complicated :D
Anyways, just build it how you think it's enjoyable, then it should be good for most of us.
