Testing the builder. Also for achievements.

It´s a cruddy map. Test the builder all you want, but don´t upload that crap, please.

There is no effort in this one and how people give it a rating for 6.6 just because they are desperate playing Creeper world 24/7 is beyond me. THis map deserves zero points.

stdout

I ranked it a 1, which is what it deserves.

Why do people want achievements so much? They don't actually do anything.

I would say for a similar reason why people love the Terp so much - a mild form of OCD.

Seriously though, research has shown that people gain a sense of accomplishment when they get some form of achievement, even if it doesn't do anything.  That leads to higher sales of games (e.g. http://www.edge-online.com/news/study-achievements-boost-game-sales-ratings/) and more profitability for the company.

Now, with that said I do wish people would stop uploading maps like this.  It's easy enough to create your own map for the achievement without having to force a dumb map like this on the rest of the community.
Omnipotence doesn't mean the ability to do what is logically impossible. It's possible, therefore, for God to create beings with the kind of free will that can choose between good and evil, but he can't also force those creatures to choose good. If he forced their choice, it wouldn't be free.

I find this type of map to be a real PITA, but TPTB are very reluctant to restrict what is uploaded. In a lot of cases, the map makers are simply testing the procedures (creating and uploading), and aren't looking to give a game worth playing.

There have been several uploaded over the last few days that are pretty much junk, and that may simply be people with extra time on their hands (big holiday weekend in the U.S.) and they are experimenting.

When real rubbish is presented, (I verify by playing/trying it) I simply quit the game, rate it a 1, and click on the 'Hide' button so I don't have to look at it in list.

I do try to resist the urge to post less than cordial comments, since quite often it is a sincere novice map-maker just trying to figure out the system. If you must post, explain what it is you don't like about it and try to encourage the kind of games you like.

Use a modified "HOSTS" file to accomplish that. Passive restriction with no service(s) running.

I should remind everybody that they can report a map when it's not suitable. Review Virgil's guidelines on reporting.

Sufficient reports against a map will auto-delete the map and flag it for review.

@K75 -
I go back and forth on the whole 'report' thing.
This map and many others don't appear to meet the criteria established by Virgil for deletion, but they certainly might be considered a waste of time and electrons.
There were several in the past week that were maxed-out size (256x256), no terrain, no 'game' per se, but they still didn't cross the lines described.
On the flip side, we have had some truly outstanding games in the past week; with at least one (IMO) 10, and several 9's. I wonder if we aren't getting to the point where we can raise the bar on what should be allowed to stay on the list.

Compare 817 (a Bo Derek) and 787 (a Mr. Mostel).
