did i set a good time? i haven't checked!  i generally don't push for time on my own maps, they are more for overblown firepower fun. or tons of AC. or both. glad you enjoyed it dude!

ahh go on danald! i'm a little surprised it's got so many scores so fast, i figured the large sloggy maps weren't popular, still it's nice to see people like it!

btw u b 4th :D (by 5 secs ::))

My review: didn't like this map. Where's the fun? There was no challenge, no strategy. It was just a by-the-numbers mop-up, which took ages because there were 10 times as many things as there needed to be.

That is what SHE said.

Jokes apart, I see you are brand new to the forums. You only had two posts at the time, and both were to do unconstructive comments on custom maps.

Don't bash the map makers. Please. One sour map maker means some 10 fold maps won't be seeing the light of day.
Don't make a slog just because. Be like Master Mapmaker SPIFFEN:

(...)Difficulty is subjective. (...)
SPIFFEN chooses to rate each map as trivial because they believe that the difficulty of the map depends on the capability of the player.

lol   :D if you were on another persons map, i'd suggest what burguertime suggested (cheers dude, promoting polite behaviour is always good!), constructive criticism might get a good result, unconstructive criticism will never get a good result.
since you're talking about one of my maps (btw how do you find the other 21 maps i've done? good, bad or indifferent), i'll say.... fair enough, feel free to not play if you find a map dull, perhaps just quit and do another? and if the maps is just dull, why comment on it?
or here's a challenge.... make a map ;) we can always do with more mappers :)
remember "fun" is a subjective experience, for you this map may have been no fun at all, but for others it may be the best fun they have.
my maps are generally easy/medium overbuilder maps for folks who like huge firepower and/or tons of AC, they are made to be completed fast for the speed monkeys and to not be too overwhelming for slower or newer players.
perhaps you need to stick with playing maps intended for the higher level players?

Typical of most custom maps released so far in that once you get your initial defence set the rest is just mopping up.

We need more mid and late game suprises like emmitters that increase output the more you kill or scripted events.

Creeperworld 2 had some absolutely devious maps in those veins.

probably somewhat true of every CW map  ;) barring a few extreme CRPL maps on CW3, but i'd agree this is an accurate description of this map

don't look at me ::), not into complex codes, i just lift fun little codes sometimes, like pyramids and flip-mitters etc :). maybe you could make some maps that have all that stuff?

i think not. CW2 didn't have scripted events as such, at least not compared to CW3's, although with just time based field and unit events some CW2 authors did make some really devious and downright mean maps! but if you compare my 50 (or so) CW2 maps with my 22 (so far) CW3 maps you'll find they are similar in difficulty. i rarely make maps more than medium level of difficulty, because i like to make maps that are accessable to all players, if you find these maps dull there are some great maps that do what you want, planetfall's are pretty complex lots going on, and j uses strengthening emitters quite a bit. hope you find some maps you enjoy 8)

Well wasn't really bashing your map per say(gave it an 8.) just commenting on the simple nature of it is all and yes there are a few maps for cw3 that are a bit tricky late game especially.

I suppose the easiest way to maybe make the average map a bit more challenging without going to the lengths of scripts and custom enemies is to simply remove or restrict terps to one and preserve the mapmakers intentions when he made it to begin with.

It's easily the most powerful unit in the game due to it tossing up massive walls and deep trenches in a flash with even a few working the same area.

this is true, but it's a time killer too! i love terps, and often intentionally let the terp mentalists have the option of level 10'ing the whole map! ;)

there are some other making it harder methods too, void and digi can add complexity, as can spores, but the real power is in the CRPL, and i'm just not a code monkey. however when i see a code i like i will blatently steal it (with props where they are due, if i know the author) and use it to death!
but as i said before, my main aim is fun, and i think from your score i at least achieved that! :)
thanks for the comments, i didn't take them as being "bashing" so no worries dude! 8)

Within the past couple of days, someone made a game that got meaner/nastier as you took out Emitters.
Maybe someone has a link to that?
I don't know anything about the map-making function, but to a great extent I have learned which mappers I enjoy and which I'll do better to avoid. Some are making really intricate maps and some are making straight-forward, charge up the middle types.

When I do play a map, my starting goal is to beat the posted time of the actual mapper. It keeps me on my toes and usually gives me a perspective of what they intended to provide the players.
