level 10 terrain is safe, but there's not a lot of it. have fun! #teks #tactics

Having fun so far, but have to restart.
Jumped right in without even looking at the pieces to the puzzle.
Good stuff!

Nice map, but an evil one. Makes the player terraform the entire map to lvl10

Ummmm... I don't know how you did it, but this map is completely doable without building any terps at all.

Concur - no terra-forming needed.
Just got back and finished it.
Had some fun - thanks!

Katra

Terps are not needed. I found an interesting trick to catching techs that requires 1 guppy and no weapons.  ;D With a few more weapons available I was able to start expanding, and once I had a bit of bottom land and a few power zones  it became an exercise in moving the limited supply of weapons around to clear creeper and cover nullifiers.
Power. Power! I must have more POWER!

Since Tek's maps are usually so symmetrical, I usually play them symmetrically. For this one I did a FOUR-FRONTED ASSAULT, moving North, South, East, and West, all at the same time. It was fun.

I found this same trick. Only when I was talking to someone in chat did I realize that the guppy isn't even necessary. Since the guppy won't pick up techs, you need a Command Node regardless. So you can just skip the guppy and use that instead.

Katra

But the guppy saves time. ;) With guppy I was able to build a collector on the tiny creeper free island, then drop a CN and immediately send it back to orbit.

@Katra - much faster to just send the CN around to each island. Drop it at the island, build the Collector in the center spot, move to the next one.
The CN is tough enough to stand the dunking in the Creeper for a couple of seconds.

love the discussion, and i forgot about the CN's standing in C tactic, i'm glad you all enjoyed it!  8)

I didn't find that any particular tricks were necessary. I didn't terp, or use guppies, and I just used what weapons were available on the starting platform to make the jump over to the nearest stepping stones to pick up the tech, and basically just repeated the process.

Sure - you can use that method if you just want to slowly work your way through the map. I gave the comments above for those interested in finishing in +/- 25 minutes.

I don't like dunking the command nodes in creeper most of the time. But I had a fun flying strategy. I filled the center island almost completely with reactors and flew the command nodes around bridging and nullifying the spore towers before they even shot their first spore. I then used a relay on the power node from each spore tower (I used sprayers to clear the power nodes) to build relays and collect all the tech. Then I just attacked everywhere.

I found this map very fun. I really enjoyed the safe spots. I wish that safe spots were more common on maps. It just made a really fun dynamic.

They are anti-creeper spore towers. You can pretty much ignore them in the beginning. As of version 1.73, the bug was fixed where they were damaging shields.
