Very clever map.
Lots of ways to approach this one and I'm going to have to try a couple more.

Good work!

glad you liked it, i like to provide options  :D
there was a bit of a surprise (at 8 mins) for players who took their time, but most probably avoided it.
cheers dude

That's why we have "Turbo Mode"!
I'll have to fire this up and let it run through the surprise - just for fun.

The 'surprise' caught me off guard the first time (no defenses in place for field-changing event)... the second time I overextended with my build orders, and the horizontal dark beam guarding against 'the surprise' ran out of packets and my defenses got eaten up... The third time I didn't even use a dark beam and just ended up using a combination of shields, repulsors (single layer), and AC factories to 'hold the line' while I built conversion bombs to sink into the depths. It got close (because I didn't start soon enough) but I didn't break any shields / get any leakage and the repulsors were strong enough to stop the 'new' creeper from advancing upwards, so I could just take out the emitters at my leisure.

My playstyle is definitely "build big with a minimum-required holding action, then attack", which doesn't always work for every map, obviously. I like being 21/35+21/35 in power and tech improvements, 60 energy incoming (or more if there is a stockpile of energy), etc, and maps like this one start out looking like that is easily achievable, but then SURPRISE!

I like all your maps, teknotiss. I think you should either make more a lot more often, or clone yourself several times and have the clones make more. You seem to understand that gimicks are great up until the point where they get annoying, and your maps are frequently "gimicky" but never annoying. Very well done.

cheers dude! nice of you to say so  :D
i do try to make lots but i think i'm guilty of over "thinking" them, i don't want to upload a map i'm not "finished" with, but the maps that seem to get the best response are the ones i spend the least time on.
i also strive to give options to the player, i know some of the speed monkeys won't bother with a map if it can't be done in less than 10 mins, so i normally give a fast option but personally i like to be able to play a map in at least two ways (fast and slow) and preferably to have multiple paths to victory.
hmmm lesson here i suppose, don't try too hard on CW2 maps!  ;D

Nice Map

I like the slow and big approach I guess I have played to many other games that involve NOT losing units and I have trouble breaking that habit

teknotiss

yeah i know that feeling.  :D
i don't like wasting lives of even electronic men, and somehow i think of blasters and launchers as, sort of, "troopers". odd eh?  ???

NO!
Protecting (and respecting) your assets is simply good sense.
I saw one game where the only way to win was to rifting in dozens of Blasters and letting them die in place. Stupid concept and I quit as soon as I figured that out.

I was ready for the creeper to blow up (start heading upwards) and even started building defenses against it. Sounds like it would have happened had I given it a little more time. Great map regardless!
