Crazonium walls; what's your opinion?

For some reason I don't like maps with lots of crazonium walls. It's probably a combination of the colour (which doesn't blend in with any landscape, making the map look very artificial) and the way they are often used (forcing the player to travel long distances, which also gives me an artificial feeling).

I'm not saying it's always bad to use crazonium as it has its purpose, but I just don't become very enthusiastic when I see those long and winding roads flanked by this tough material.

Am I the only one with this opinion or do more people dislike maps with a lot of crazonium?

I understand you , but the Crazonium walls are great when its used right .

They can be used to make your map work as you want it to ,
like make the mapsize smaller if you want .

So if you see an map you dont think you like ,
dont play it =P

Edit :
here's an map that has been made smaller with Crazonium walls :

No worries, I won't. ;) Just wondering whether others share this antipathy.

Making a map smaller can also be accomplished by varying the terrain heights (which often looks nicer in my opinion).

I'd have to agree with you there UPPERKEES I just don't like it when all people do is just make a long passage with crazonium walls. When I suggested them to Virgil on the beta thread I was doing it for a map I was making at the time to test out all of the new features of the game at that time. But now people use it in almost every map and almost every map is boring and stupid looking except for the few who use it right.

Actually, I like it. I think I'm going to make more maze maps :)

I'm not really a fan, partly down to their colour and partly down to their properties.

I'd use them decoratively (on my Snowmen map as their eyes, for example) or very sparingly... but would try to avoid large amounts of 'functional' crazonium.

UpperKEES

Now THIS is an original map that uses crazonium in a very innovative way. I could even appreciate the (quarter) spiral.

I honestly hated any map that had long mazes and narrow paths using crazonium, I don't hate the color (actually like it XD) however many people use crazonium maps so....stupidly, I am sorry If thats insulting but its what I think. A map that I know uses crazonium creatively is this,

It was a fun map.

i simply hate it in every possible way.

people who use them as bridges make the game less fun i don't know how rocco can stand spending 30mins on getting a 2min highscore

UpperKEES

I think it's fun for a while (easy to pwn badly designed maps, especially with his hotkey script), but after that it gets very boring. I enjoyed it for 1-2 weeks and only use it rarely now when I can gain a lot of time doing so (although this won't be on a crazonium map ;)). I think Rocco has also lost his interest a bit.

I rarely if ever use them. Normal walls too. Now, when used correctly they could be just fine, but most of the time they are not. Having a terrain that nothing can go over is somewhat limiting and boring if used incorectly.
