Another nice good morning map.
For the first 6-7 minutes, all I did was build out max power and Beams, and just try to survive.

Screen Grab.
The Spores get pretty intense.
I tried to finesse my way through a couple of times and then just brought out the sledge hammer.
Max Reactors and Beams.
Get the Beams on a PZ with 3-4 more Beams at each one to swap out.
Guppies to the Totem islands to take out the Spore Towers and start feeding the Totems.

Curious to see D's technique.
He had a great time.

I certainly did have a good time  :D

I started in the same way as you H. Instead of worrying about guppies early on though I tried to push out and get some PZs as quick as possible. Getting that middle island and the one bottom left frees up 4 PZs, vital on this map!

On my playthrough of this map I actually started from the very bottom left island. Probably doing what you guys did would have been a smarter strategy.

Way too tough a start for me.

Managed to get the two islands but I can't imagine how to stand up to 75 spores when those 15's come online.

Late to the game here but I did what stdout did - started on the bottom left. In hindsight, I think the larger islands would be better because of expansion speed, but I'm pretty sure you could survive anywhere you land if you're strategic. The problem is gauging how much to spend on energy production vs. acquiring new PZ's.

Worst-case scenario, I suspect you could beat this by just flying the CN from one island to another and picking off what you can, then building beams like crazy, then building a power grid to support it. Not the most fun scenario but probably the one which would require the least amount of thinking.

This is a very interesting battle, and I'm really glad you didn't make it any easier than it is. Great challenge!

I still find myself completely unable to cope with the 15s and I can't understand how you guys are doing it.

Hey Loren, no worries m8. It was pretty rough starting on the bottom left - I think Dom's location was better.

By the time the 15s start flying, I'd say you need the following:

1) Three power zones, each with three beams that you can rotate around as needed
2) To have grabbed the aether pack on the right
3) Two or three other power zones supplied by guppies
4) Enough of a power grid to power all that
5) Forge upgrades: At least level 2 RoF, level 5 build rate (to resupply beams), and maybe a range upgrade

OR

You can just use the "Lazy Dude" technique. Just land on an island with a spore tower & a totem, build a forge and just let it spool up overnight. Fully upgrade everything and either fly back and forth to zap stuff, using the singularity perhaps, while keeping the forge powered up or just destroy everything you can using only your CN and then build a ton of beams and send to each of those locations. That's a pretty boring solution but it'd work.
