For this map you need a very fast pc.

Alex, be honest: Who hurt you so much? :D
Geeez... what a start. I think I need 10 more attempts.

Johnny Haywire

Dude.

VERY YES! What an amazing start. The first 30 minutes are just build, defend, build, defend... keeping an eye out for those what - 300 spores launching? (More on that later). Absolutely the BEST start of any map I've played since... Darth Vader was in the presence of Obi Wan. Or at least several months.

I laughed so hard when I saw the number of spore towers that all the Cinnamon Toast Crunch in my mouth blew right through my monitor like fiery meteors ripping through marshmallows. So obviously, I had to restart. And buy a new monitor.

After a second failed attempt, I decided that I might need lots of mortars sooner rather than later, so I grabbed it first and then built a couple collectors to connect the energy siphon, and that worked ok. As it turns out, I don't think that's really necessary but I had a couple extra mortars early.

What's great about this map? The number of spores, the amount of AC available (worthy of a second "Dude"), and the spacing and sheer number of enemies that provide those nice PZ's for you. Everything is perfectly placed and timed until the last spore waves fire. Great job with that!

What's not so great? Mostly just the game limitations. I didn't have a problem with lag, but I forgot that there's a maximum number of spores allowed on the screen at any given time (100?). So that was a little disappointing.

The only thing I'd ask is if there's any way you'd consider putting in an inhibitor? Once I managed to build a secure base, I kinda felt like that was victory. The rest was just anti-climactic. Imagine if Thanos had been killed 30 minutes into the movie, and the next hour and a half was all the Avengers going after bank robbers and car thieves. I mean, yeah I'd still go see the movie because the first 30 minutes would be awesome. But it would be even awesomer if either the movie stopped shortly after the climax, or if it kept building the entire time.

As it is, once I got the base built I just walked away for a few hours to do other stuff so the forge was maxed. That made things go a little faster.

Overall, this isn't just a cool battle, it's a dude-great battle. And I'd gladly play another map like this even if it's a bit anti-climactic just for the start. Excellent job, worthy of the very rare 3 exclamation point rating, even with the long clean-up.

Thanks for the map!!! =)
You disagree with this sentence, don't you?

managed to build something that resembles a base, then spores said hello.

Great fight at the beginning! I was about to give up after restarting three times, but then I tried one more time focussing on building many reactors and expanding quickly and early, and that worked for me. Thanks for the map!

Dave!

Great potential here.

First 30 mins is great but then it turns into repetitive boring grind which is garbage. Adding a single Bertha which is only obtainable halfway up the map was pointless and more than a little act of bastardry.

Once your base is stable and can survive the Air assault the game needs a way to finish quickly, move the Bertha pickup lower and make it unlimited to speed up the inevitable.

10/10 start 3/10 finish

@ Johnny Haywire: Wow – cinnamon toast... that sounds amazing! It's not available in Germany. I'm jealous. inhibitor... have you conspired with Martin

@ Gotright: I don't believe you :-)

@ Dave!: I always have to laugh when I read something like that... It's not forced labor... you know.

@ Cesser: Johnny's tip is of course great...
it is important to get the mortar update as soon as possible

@ RX: thx

LOL, nein. Martin ist sehr böse.

I kinda think Dave! has the same idea. It'd be a great way to keep the most amazing part of your maps (the challenging starts) but then skip the arduous clean-up.

If I had a vote, I'd even vote for more spores earlier but with an inhibitor - so a more difficult start but a faster finish. But as I said before, I'd happily plod through the boring parts just to be able to play the starts of maps like this one. I'm just saying that an inhibitor would make it a 10/10 instead of a 9-something/10 in my book.

As for the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal - it used to taste even better before they started trying to give more of a healthier appearance: "Whole grain is the first ingredient!" Like, why? I mean, it's still good but it's like they're trying to add something healthy where it just doesn't belong.

Can't wait to play your next map! =)
