I hope that the arbitrary deletion of a map will not lead to well-deserving community members not only publishing their maps anonymously. that would be a worse damage that was done. here you can actually recognize the map-maker immediately.

I think it's a bit of a storm in a tea cup, an nupopular decision was made, it was reveresed when complaints were recieved. All done and dusted, lets move on!

spoiler is in this thread... I guess
Shenanigans are afoot. Multiple mapmakers are submitting maps using the same Steam key and posting on the forum from overlapping IP address ranges.

So be mindful to whom one is talking, especially in PMs.

It really took you that long?

EDIT: is this a formal warning to the community to not PM me?

Oh no, not at all. The community can PM you, you can PM the community. It's mostly an observation that behind-the-scenes communication is not always subject to the same scrutiny as en plein air communications.

normally I would agree, this is a fake map and I made it. You can also rest assured that the ResistanceToEvil username never PM'ed anyone. I myself almost never PM anyone here either, but that's not the subject at hand.

Anyway, please view this (map) as a parallel to Wallraffing/undercover journalism. I made this map for a reason: as it is obviously unbeatable, unless the player understands my little trick here, I wanted to see if this would be removed, how fast it would be removed, and if allowed to stay; why.

In light of recent events and this map, I cannot emphasise how random and arbitrary I find the moderating of this community.

In light of recent events and this map, I cannot emphasise how random and arbitrary I find the moderating of this community.
And I cannot believe how willful and capricious the members of this community are.

In the past, and I can't point you to a specific map, because it was a long time (many years ago)  we implemented a policy to remove maps that  had a back door that allowed it to be beaten by non-obvious means. As an example, there was a map that requires specific terrain cells to be terped to a specific height for an insta-win. Some other maps, similar to the map that now engendered this storm in a teacup, that relied on a special, hidden unit that had to be destroyed were removed.

So, when I got a complaint about that map, I followed what was in the past the established policy. That unleashed a firestorm of personal abuse. I put the map back, that got negative feedback.

Now you make a similar map. No-one complained about it, and I did not remove it in the light of previous negative feedback.

Now again you complain. What would make you happy?
