i forgot to correct one mistake: the ac-runners in the middle should have had a lifespan of 4 and not 1. then they would only burst of their own accord in the middle

Plays the same as the previous version, adding the extra spore towers didn't meaningfully change it.

I played it a bit better this time, had a lot more AC to work with, went pure bombers, no strafers, enough bombers work quite well for assaulting everything on the map.

Given the AC production I decided to leave it running and see what would happen--even after an extra 3 1/2 hours there are areas up top where I can't get the void to flood.

You also have a one-pixel hole in digitalis in the void, it's on the left edge of the leftmost one that has AC bugs, not the menace at the bottom that's just creeper.

What's the trick to getting real AC production? I strafed some AC bugs on the long run up the middle and the two mini-pods (emitter + runner nest with a little digitalis connecting them) but the shots hitting the digitalis shut the nests down; without hitting the digitalis the runners don't get hit either.

Spoiler
As with most of his maps, the key is snipers.  Figure out which bugs make AC (hint:  In most cases they'll be connected to very low value emitters) and farm them.  You correctly located the first 3 (all the ones in the void also make AC), but the wrong weapon.  On this map you can put a platform at level 10 to fire over the wall, or a platform at level 2 and terp down the wall with the help of some mortars.  While you typically can use a chain reaction to kill the new bugs you'll get a lot more AC if you have enough snipers bearing on the nest to insta-kill them as they emerge.  Note the slow firing rate on snipers, sometimes it takes a lot of snipers to saturate a nest.)

D'oh! So now I just need to get closer - ta very muchly!

Fantastic map!

I'm tempted to remake this for people who complain about maps being too difficult, allowing just one blaster and 3 snipers.

IMO, people who complain about AlexX's maps should learn how much worse it could be. He does a great job of giving lots of options, although they're not totally obvious. And when you conquer one of his or Martin's challenges you feel like you actually defeated a worthy opponent.

Thanks for the map! =)

You disagree with this sentence, don't you?

I just played this map again after reading your comment. I enjoyed it! Thank you very much for the tip :-)

Heh, you're certainly welcome.

And I hope you don't mind the horrific re-make I did of this map, lol. Figured if people wanted to complain, I'd give them something to complain about. I think the average completion time is around 8 hours, last I looked.

Thanks for all the work you put into making these cool maps! =)

I'll play your map over Christmas... I'm excited.
