big problem with KC rating system - possibility to rate without playing.
no mood to create more maps! hater/haters can be happy!

Just pretend 1/10 ratings don't exist and you should be fine.

I have not so much fantasy...

I usually have trouble trying to ignore the 1/10 ratings too, but as long as there are enough 'normal' ratings the 'unreasonably bad' ratings will not have such a big effect any more. Also, people believe in you so that means you automatically get higher average ratings than others. These few 1/10 ratings aren't significant with so much normal ratings.

One of my levels however has a ton of 1/10 ratings because people don't have the patience to just try it. The level really isn't that hard but it involves pre-placing nullifiers against moving enemies, so people rate 1/10 before even really giving it a try. PRG said it's a decent level, so it's not just me.

1/10 ratings don't stop me from making levels, I just change to a different theme where the ratings have been more positive. Eventually I'll just come back to the theme of the map, it'll just have lower priority.

And if any 1/10 rating person reads this, please consider rating at least 2/10 if there is serious effort put in a level and it doesn't involve 125 mass artefacts nuking your defences at once. 1/10 means it's the worst possible map, and if you can't beat it that means it's challenging for others, so rate 2/10 or higher. Thanks for your understanding.

And now lets go back to the topic of this map before people decide it's getting off-topic, shall we?

Yum Guy,
Down here in the Smokies we have two words for the haters. I can't say the first one, but I'm sure you know what it is.

This was a step above the typical games you and I have been making and playing.
I started with my normal technique and was D.E.D. dead in about 2 minutes.
After a second cup of coffee I went at it again and lasted a little longer.

It was interesting to see how many ways you built in to get double or triple targets with one Guppy even in the deepest Creeper.
Easily the best of this type of map and I salute you.
Keep it up.
Thanks,'

If you sort all maps by rating you have about 175 of the top 200 maps Yum, that is a lot of love for your work. Keep it up and focus on the love and not the hate. No disrespect to the other makers but I only keep up with this game for your maps. Your maps evolve and change and provide endless hours of novel and fun challenges (credit to the coders assisting you!).

It is also worth noting that whilst you are experimenting and trying new things there are a lot of people out there who don't like change. Don't be put off by the vanilla people!

I enjoyed this map so much I am going to play it again. Good work!

I saw that and decided I'd take another run at it too. Then I saw your time.
Sadly, it is well into beer o'clock, so my replay for a better time will have to wait until tomorrow morning.
Semper Fi to all y'all.

No offense taken, I actually agree that yum234's maps are the reason for a lot of players to stay, this probably includes me for a little bit too! This probably applies to some of the other makers too, though I can't speak for them of course.

My maps are almost always an new experiment in some way. Seeing how my maps have average ratings from 9/10 all the way to 2/10, I can confirm some new experiments just won't be accepted very well at first, while others get good ratings and sometimes it's not obvious why a level gets a certain rating at all. Just keep creating levels please, because most of them are really fun!

Hi Yum, I have not rated this one yet, because I haven't played it yet,...

BUT!

I checked in here because the DM maps (to the best of my knowledge) do not have a forum where we can comment.

I was sent to the DM maps recently by another map you posted here in Colonial space, where you made mention in your comments that the map was based on a DM map.
I am so grateful to your mention, as I have been playing nothing but DM maps now for the last several weeks,. and have been LOVING Them! Maps with the titles like "AoLogistics" "yummy" "NewStyle"  with authors names including Yum234, Helper, YumDude, YumScore,. this whole series ... wow I've never had so much fun with CW3!!!

Anyway, now that I see there are more liek them here in Co.inial Space I will be playing these as well. I just had to track you down and let you know I've never had so much fun.
In addition, something about these particular maps has me playing "harder" I used to only enjoy maps that let me take my own plodding time, with pressure, but not too muich pressure. These maps have stirred a whole new approach and joy for me. I am seeing my scores go from the slowest, right to the top. I'm not at all used to playing up there with the High Scorers in CW3! (where is HawgWash who beat my top score in NewStyle #2 ??!!  grrr!  lol :) :) :) )

Anyway, pure coincidence that the map I found in Colonial had the subject matter of haters. From me Yum234, you get nothing but love and respect! Sooo love these maps!
Than you so much!!!

@Jake,
Great that you're liking the DMD maps. I agree that they are a terrific break in the routine from these over in CS.
Yum works some fine magic in both kinds of maps and gives us all a ton of fun playing time.
Great to see some recognition for the Yum Dude!
Thanks,
H

Helper, nice to make your acquaintance. I've really enjoyed your maps indeed! You'll see my name on the scores for all the recent ones. Thanks for posting them!

Gah! This was quite a fight!
This was definitely rated 10! Much harder start than some of the DMD I've been playing. I didn't see how to do this one quickly, so I'm way down in the rankings time wise at over 1/2 hour, but great fun. I really loved all the spots to park a "superguppy" and do damage while trying to defend against the onslaught. Lots of mutitasking.

thanks for a great map!

CDS - a couple of thoughts...
Some of the players with better scores than you have been around since CW1 was introduced and have learned some pretty good tricks along the way. Despite your relative newness, you still scored in about the top third of all players.

Attached is a screen grab of my starting position. If I take another run at this one, I'll try to remember to grab some more examples.
Have fun.
H

[EDIT] -
Yikes! Never mind about that new guy/old timer stuff I posted above. I just saw that you obliterated my time on DMD 9178 - my own map!
I might have to put a little eye-opener in my second cup of java and give it another go.
Nicely done.
