If you are a Creeper World fan, it would be nice if you'd go there, play at least one map and rate the game. :)

Edit: Wow.

Edit2: Virgil, those red notices on the KC pages. Why don't you make them hyperlinks directly to the game on Kongregate?

The game just went 'super public' on Kong (as in it just got it's initial rating after 300 plays).  Let the games begin!

I have just made both lines links to the game on kong.

You have about a .15 lead over the next highest rated game, except that game has over 16k ratings, so it's hard to move the rating for that game either way... your game can still change drastically with just one rating.
Title: Re: Creeper World: Evermore
Post by: knucracker on November 21, 2011, 03:52:02 PM
The rating will bounce around like crazy for the first bit... that's why it's a good thing for anyone reading this to vote 5 stars.  That helps keep it high in the beginning so it gets more exposure.  I've seen really good games flame out on kong thanks to early down voting... and never recover.  But, the support community for a game (if it has one) can help offset this.

Awesome! I think this is a great idea to drum
up interest Virgil. Well done!  ;D

Creeper World will always "sell itself" when
you let it. ;)

If anyone is having trouble with the survival mode, I recommend using *LOTS* of drones - this works better on some maps than others (you need a fairly flat space for drones to do their bombing runs efficiently, I've been finding Nov. 18 to be a good map for this. To give a good idea of what I mean by *LOTS* of drones:

I have lots of blasters disarmed - if the creeper starts overflowing (ideally you should be using drones to prevent this from happening as much as reasonably possible), you can turn them on, but whenever possible you want to be using drones to hit the creeper instead of blasters since they are much more energy efficient at killing creeper. I'm still trying to finish this run so I'll see how high I can get on it.

EDIT: Started losing control of the map at about 1250 intensity emitters, but I dragged it out another 10 minutes after that to about 1350 intensity emitters (4:05:32).
905347 Blaster Shots, 5765 Drone Sorties and 19172587.65 creeper killed.

More energy you could have run all those blasters and hold your line after you started losing control... ;)

Kithros is just as good at CW as he is CW2. Why am I not surprised?

Wow. There  are complaints filtering in on the comments at Kongregate that indicate some players could not finish levels in 60 minutes and were then caught by surprise when survival mode kicked in. Pity, I'm sure those people aren't giving it 5/5.  :(

I mean really. That's *slow*.

i just posted this on kong comments

In the full version of Creeper World, you can play every day of the year from year 0 to year 9999. If there are 365 days in a year and 10000 years thats 3 650 000 levels. If they each took you 10 mins to do, more of less of course, you would be playing for 36 500 000 mins. That would take nearly 70 years. So gl! XD

Will survival mode be added to the full version in an upcoming patch?

I always wanted to include survival style missions in the custom Campaign I never quite got round to finishing and publishing but they wouldn't work under the totem/collection mechanics

Yeah, AG appears to be really messed up.  The domain was redirecting to an IP address last night and I couldn't log in at all.
Title: Re: Creeper World: Evermore
Post by: CobraKill on November 22, 2011, 09:31:20 AM
It only loads the title and search bars for me. No games or anything. Weird...

Try refreshing the page completely and see if that works.  They appear to be up and "fine" when I just tried them a few minutes ago.  I was able to get into CW:E.  Of course all of the comments on there say the game won't load so they are down ranking it...  Folks don't realize that the game won't load if "armorgames.com" doesn't appear in the url (and they were redirecting the site to an IP address last night).

if it is, i suggest taking out the 60 min time limit, and setting the intensity increase in the map editor, along with if survival mode is possible.

Been an problem since they started changeing it to V3 .
But it is nice to see that the game was uploaded =) ,

There was an issue getting it uploaded.... so I had to work with the site owner to get it fixed up.  Hopefully they will get back in good shape for the upcoming 4 day weekend (in the US).

I just love the comments on Kongregate that goes something like this: "I've build a boatload of xyz and I'm kicking butt in survival mode..."

Yea right. Post back in an hour, or two.

The survival mode reactions are pretty funny... good data points for evaluating what should go into a full version of survival mode.

What stat's are people finding most interesting?  Take a look at the various kongregate stats... some of them seem to indicate people are competing for some of the stranger things.  Things like "peak structures" I expected to see go pretty high... spore hits not so much.

While I doubt they're doing it with this in mind - it's a completely reasonable strategy to use blasters instead of SAMs to shoot the spores as they land instead of shooting them down. It actually has a lower energy cost, but unless you're in a very small building space it will take a lot more blasters to cover everything than it would SAMs.

Virgil, do you have an *in* at Armorgames that might be able to explain what the problems are they are having? I'm unable to log in and rate the game. I noticed it has already a lot more plays than on Kongregate, but I'd like to get in and play and rate/comment.
Title: Re: Creeper World: Evermore
Post by: knucracker on November 22, 2011, 04:51:21 PM
I've sent them an email about the problem....  I'll post back if I hear anything.

For me, the problem has cleared up.  Not sure why I can get in without issue but others still have a problem.  Very strange.
Title: Re: Creeper World: Evermore
Post by: Grauniad on November 22, 2011, 06:25:01 PM
yep, cleared up for me as well. More than 12 hours after it started.

Edit: They 'fessed up to "DNS issues." (http://twitter.com/#!/armorgames)

Edit 2: Wow, Virgil, I hope the complaints on the game page re loading is mostly due to the AG issues. Your rating is being hammered by it.
Title: Re: Creeper World: Evermore
Post by: knucracker on November 22, 2011, 07:28:35 PM
Yeah, there has been some issue that has prevented the game from loading even after the dns issues were resolved.  I don't know if it was the original version that got corrupted during the upload, dns poisoning, caching issues, or what.  The game loads for me fine on different machines I have tried... but I am all behind the same local dns servers.  I see some comments on AG that indicate it starts working if people refresh the browser.

These problems came at a bad time so the game took a big ratings hit.
Title: Re: Creeper World: Evermore
Post by: knucracker on November 22, 2011, 08:27:17 PM
The ArmorGames site owner tells me that things should now be good with the CW:E and that it should load and run fine now.  Hopefully, that settles the issues and the game can start to recover a little bit of its rankings now.

Or this one...

Interesting, the #3 (CW:E) and #2 (Mushroom Madness) games are now neck-to-neck at 4.33.   CW:E has been slowly gaining, over the last few days. Let's hope it overtakes this weekend.

It's a good race to watch...  I've noticed the slow climb over the last day from 4.29 to 4.33 so if the trend continues it should make it.  But, you never know....

Congratulations on your well-deserved second place in the Kongregate monthly competition that closed yesterday. I see the .05 gap to the #1-rated game was just a bit too much to close. Second place is a major achievement.

Have you done any comparisons with the rate the various Flash games on Kongregate are being played and how many visitors they are driving to this site?

Edit: I think that now, with the game not prominent on the home page, the number of plays (and new players) may drop off significantly?

Actually, the contest doesn't end till tonight.... The end of the month is the submission deadline, but judging doesn't end till later.

"Each eligible Submission will be judged upon the following criteria (the "Judging Criteria"): 100% popularity based on the average five-star user rating on Kongregate.com as of 11:59:59 p.m. PT on December 3, 2011. Each submission must have received a minimum of 30 ratings to be eligible. "

Things still look like a solid 2nd place finish, though.... which I am very happy with.

Really love the game, I saw it on Armor Games, and have played pretty much every mission since it was released there. I was looking through the stats, and noticed that I kinda ranked in just about every one, I took a screenshot, and I would really love to prove that it isn't fake or whatever.

When you play more allmost everything goes up. The things that aren't going up every game are the things that really count (for example, try to improve longest survival time). Apart from that, nice to see that there are more players who love the game!
