*** This map has been released to celebrate the birth of Gurney. Congratulations to Chani & Virgil with their son! *** :)

The ravages of time have damaged this teddy a little. It is losing its filling through its ears and feet. Its mouth and eyes also seem rather weak. Hopefully you can prevent it from putrefying completely. After that please clean the baby room.

You start off with just some thread (collectors). Other tools that may help you:
- Needle (blaster)
- Baby food (reactor)
- Magic building blocks (storage & speed)
- Walking (relay)
- Broom (mortar)
- Vacuum cleaner (drone)

Unfortunately there are some mosquitos around (spores with 0.5 intensity). Three of them arrive from the bottom after 5 minutes. Every 3 minutes 4 more of them will appear. Use mosquito nets (SAMs) to protect yourself against them.

The holes in the teddy (intensity 6) will release more filling after 4, 6, 8 and 10 minutes. The same goes for the holes in the eyes and mouth (intensity 1.5) that start after 2 minutes.

Yeah, maybe it's a bit harder than I expected. I'm just not used to creating (relatively) easy ones. I also had to start off with a terrain provided to me (creating a map together with others is hard but interesting) and already decreased some emitter intensities.

After the first 2-3 minutes it's not that hard however; it's important that you don't try too much at the same time. Greedy people will be punished, although it is possible to obtain 5 techs and 4 upgrades by building just 8 collectors within the first minute. You have to be willing to sacrifice most of them later on however; defending it will be impossible and will cost too much energy. People who go for less will have much more time to build up their defences.

I will post 1 or 2 screenshots in a few days how to start off when people have tried a bit for themselves.

He he UpperKEES is an expert player , and he made the gameplay for this map =)
( got told to make it abit easyier , so the eye and mouth Emitters got abit weaker )
So he's so good that this map is medium/hard for him ,
but for most players this might be expert / exp+ .
Atleast for me it is , i even had problems after he told me how to start the map =P
But i usally have more problems than others have , so yes i do bad .
Well i finnaly manage to post an score to the map ,
and you might do better if you figure out how to build up .
UpperKEES will post some hints later if needed , and i think it is needed .=P

Edit : expert players usally do 2/3 X times better than me =)

Hey Spiff, don't underestimate yourself. You are the one that told me I didn't need a blaster to get that last tech + upgrade! ;)

I don't think it's an 'Expert Only' map, but 'Hard' would probably be a better classification, so I requested that change to prevent wrong expectations.

I will post some screenshots tomorrow to make the start easier. After that it should be okay for anyone. :)

I think for reasons of privacy, Gurney's identity and true DOB should be omitted from forum discussions as much as is possible.

Yep, let's do that, although I have a strong suspicion what Gurney's last name will be. ;)

UpperKEES will post some hints later if needed , and i think it is needed .=P

Here we go:

At this screeny you see how to obtain 5 techs and 4 upgrades (if you like). I would select the green upgrades for the first 3 you get.

At the next screeny you see where to build your reactors and blasters protecting them. Don't try to defend the collectors you've built on the right; that will cost you more energy than it will gain you. First build a blaster on the low grounds and add a second one later on. Always try to build as many reactors as possible before adding more weapons. Add a third blaster to the left of Odin City that is able to fire up and down. The fourth blaster will be placed to the right of OC to protect the city. Keep adding reactors 1-2 at the time.

About 30 seconds before the spores will arrive (so not at the moment of this screenshot) you should build 2 SAMs at the indicated location. They may fire 2 missiles for the same spore, but the nice effect is that the second missile will go for another spore (that is maybe not even in range yet). No need to build a SAM on the right side: the blaster over there will probably take care of a spore and when it doesn't only one collector is lost that can be rebuilt easily and in time to resupply the blaster with ammo.

Another couple of minutes later you will most likely have to add a blaster to the left of the SAMs to stop the creeper coming in from below, so keep a space open for that (planning ahead is important!).

Now take it from there and don't hesitate to ask for another hint if you get stuck. :)

Here is the pic of my start :
Edit : and an pic of before the first spore attack ( easy to see that Kees have done way better =P ) :

I felt I had to compensate a little for my misjudgement of the difficulty....

Still quite a battle after the first minutes though!

Note that we made sure that this was okey with Virgil before we posted the map .
And that added some time for the map making , since we all where busy .
So this map would probably ended up in the trashcan , if we did'nt get an ok from Virgil .

Or, if you don't like to struggle every second of the first minute you can also say: "f*ck the speed and storage" so you can cover a larger terrain cap the left ear and build up without any real problems, you will then have to move the city close to the front every time so you don't get a too long connection line.

Yep, also a possibility, although I didn't try that yet. I wonder what the most efficient approach is, but I guess we'll find out soon! I think not going for speed, storage and the 4th upgrade saves a lot of energy, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the best choice. I'll try that strategy when my time gets beaten.
