One spore tower, one emitter, how long can it take? #puzzle
I know you are giving out your hard earned technique here, I just don't see how you did this in your posted time. What is
worse is that I know it is legit! Haha....
Hey, this looks eas-oh, super fast spore tower. gg no re
Figured it out thanks to the following:
Magic?
Time | CN x2 | PC x2 | Nullifier | Spore tower
00:00.00 | | | | |
00:03.00 | Land | Building
00:10.00 | | | | Ready | |
00:20.00 | | Building finished/Charging
00:27.00 | | Charging finished
00:30.00 | | >Doing some magic< | | 1. Wave
00:33.00 | | | Building | | |
00:50.00 | | | | 2. Wave | |
01:00.00 | | | Building finished/Charging
01:10.00 | | | | 3. Wave | |
01:14.00 | | | Charging finished/Firing
01:16.00 | - | - | Firing finished/END | -
Time line only shows that there is 6 second time to kill creeper, which is obviously too small amount.
Bug?
The only thing I can think about is a bug, which I encountered in that map, when Creeper Spore Tower drops AC - then it's only possible.
Magic? Weird bug!
If you figure out the correct actions, then it's easy to reach that time.
Such maps always remind me some other ones where I still wonder how it's possible to finish so fast.
It is a game with two routes to victory. The standard approach and a fast alternative requiring lateral thinking and magic (but no bugs - standard creeper physics).
I have an idea for a particularly devious game...
Okay so with the clues on this thread and bit of trial and error I see what this magic trick is, but is this something that was programmed into this map or is this some novel behavior that I've not noticed before ?
There is no CRPL present in the map. How does the spore tower alternate between AC and C? ??? ???
I haven't yet played the map, but how much Creeper does the spore have?
If you remember from Creeper World 2 or watched closesly at the black hole from the forge you will notice that once the Creeper amount goes over 2147 (2^31) it switches to -2147 (-2^31) because that's how signed integers work in programing. Maybe it has something to do with that, but it's only a guess.
That guess would be correct.
Cool map, and awesome puzzle. I had no idea about the signed integer issue. But I feel like this is a bug in CW3 and therefore I wouldn't personally be excited to see this in many future maps. If I was the developer, I would make a bug fix to prevent the creeper from flipping like that.

it's an intentional function, in CW2 the same event occured, it is possible to use this tactically, just trickier in 3 than 2.
Egad. I wouldn't have thought there was room in that score table to slip in another suboptimal strategy. I was wrong. I found two.
Spoiler
is the shield part of the equation? when I didn't have a shield, the spore tower only gave a small puddle of AC. Using the shield, it produced tons of AC
