not when you have crystal energy  :P ;)

yep if you use crystal it can be higher. but if i don't have 60+ energy i want to store more than 220 even 500 would be good. 220, i can use that fast when attcking need more of a base. could always make more on CW1

Truthfully I don't think more energy storage is really necessary - it's rare that I ever upgrade energy storage more than once. That said, I can't really see any harm in adding more upgrades so I don't particularly care - but I'm just saying, if you need more energy storage, more often than not it's because you're making mistakes.

I can certainly see a use for this. Some custom maps may require you to collect a lot of energy first, after which your reactors are (partially) destroyed. Or in cases you have very little space to build in the first place. I know some CW1 maps have been created with this constraint in mind, like my first one.

Alwego (IIRC) made a really cool C1 map that required a large amount of storage to beat.

yep. i end up building a couple blasters, a maker, and a couple blasters at one time with 22 energy. even with 220 stored. doesent work out so well. :'(
