Status Update: June 8, 2011

The second official CW2 video is complete and now up.  Check it out here:

Glad that is done…. now back to work.  Speaking of work, how about a screen shot of the “Code Maps” selection screen:

Dude… AWESOME video! I don’t recognize that last map…. is that a code map? or a new bonus mission perhaps? By the way, I really like the ‘preview’ of a code map so I don’t have to play each phrase I’d like to try before finding one that looks cool! Great work! Can’t wait to try out code maps!!!

It’s a code map, generated from a string like the chronom maps were generated from a date 😉

that last one isnt a code map.
Code maps dont have entombed Creeper and not thatlike structures.
Its a special thing Virgil created to show a ncie cutscene xD
Maybe he will post it as custom map when these are coming?^^

I KNEW it wasn’t a code map. It looked too planned, you know? And I’d LOVE to take a shot at that entombed creeper! Looks fun =)

Instead of inserting a “Code”, it would be much nicer if you could set up the generation parameters manually. Then add a random factor (e.g. seed).

Finally, all the parameters plus the seed would be encoded in a “code string” which we can send to others easily to play the same map.

Oh, And I am SO looking forward to update 1, Keep up the good work :D.
I see you have targeting Priority for blasters, I wonder if it would be possible to do something similar for morters, in that they would have an option to target a random, somewhat sub-optimal choice of creeper density to help spread out the damage.
Is it possible, that when double down is added, you have the option to enable field display for any mission that has it disabled, in the campaign and bonus missions at least?

I’ve thrashed hell out of all 30 maps bundled with the early release (31 counting the credits – inspired!) so I’m very excited about the prospect of the code maps.

Actually, I had no idea something similar was available for CW1 as I’m running a way old version.

Also looking forward to community maps when they come on-line, as they were what kept CW1 alive for me for months.

I had no idea that CW2 was on it’s way until I read a passing remark by Madmag on one of his CW1 map comments that it had just been released.

That was $10 well spent, I’ve had my moneys worth already, I’ve not slept in a week and my wrist hurts from all the mouse waggling…

    Gush ends.

I just want the plain old map editor for CW2 more than anything else. I have so many ideas I want to play with. 😀
