[VPAC Vertu Expansion] Invader Emitter

This “unit” is the main method of assault on VPAC enemy establishments as they most certainly cleansed the entire area of Creep and Creeper sources. They descend from space from an undetermined approach vector but if not intercepted by a mountain or shield, will land EXACTLY where designated. So be mindful of where you have Invader Emitters descend to. Don't put them at the base of a narrow Canyon expecting them to land exactly at that location.

Overview

  • Creates an explosion at the impact sight. It is an object, from space, slamming into the ground at 3km/s (give or take as what you see is not to scale). This damages nearby units by an amount, in a radius, all determined by the speed the Emitter was at upon impact. An Emitter falling at 6km/s (give or take again) has a much larger explosion radius and causes much more damage than an Emitter falling at 2km/s.
  • The explosion from landing an Emitter has friendly fire. This is especially annoying when trying to rush out the construction of a Lancer only to have a late Invader Emitter come in and destroy the build plan, requiring a full restart in the preparations for Lancer construction. Otherwise, effectively all VWC structures are capable of withstanding the damage caused by Invader Emitters landing next to them. Just keep in mind they DO cause damage so if enough land near a VWC structure, it may be destroyed, not that it would be much inconvenience in most cases as this should only happen at the start of the Incursion.
  • 5 HP though due to its speed, it is near impossible to be intercepted. If somehow destroyed on descent anyways however, the Emitter will also be destroyed and not deployed. Hundreds of Missile Launchers, 10's of also ERNed Missile Launchers is needed to have any hope of intercepting an Invader Emitter (assuming it is descending VERY slowly {<1km/s velocity}, otherwise the launched missiles will never catch the Invader Emitter) or a Vertu ground->orbit defense laser.
  • Deployed Emitters have 50 health (pre v2.7.4.2 ⇒ 30 HP), allowing them to survive a single direct hit from a Strategic Missile launched by the SML. This ensures the incursion does not get swiftly snuffed out by a pre-existing SML but it will take a VERY long time for the Deployed Emitter to recover fully.
  • The Invader Emitter is heavily armored, making it mostly impervious1).
  • Invader Emitters are destroyed upon hitting a shield. This is important as in the event a Rift Lab is not under shield coverage and <DATA_EXPUNGED>, Invader Emitters can just fall on top of it and result in an easy victory.
  • Deployed Emitter strength varies! Never expect them to have the same strength from mission to mission.

User functionality

In the event the player has access to Invader Emitters for their use, they work in a very simple manner. Place down an Invader Emitter where they are desired and that Invader Emitter will come down from space to deploy an Emitter there.
Lore stuff: It is not common for Invader Emitters to be accessed by the player as that user may cheese the enemies' defenses or simply outplay them, rending the skirmish itself of little use to Vertu as, victory was always a given. The main objective is to destroy the Rift Lab in the most difficult way possible while still being somewhat realistic. Not to destroy the Rift Lab as efficiently as possible. VWC is a project of study and application after all, not an outright objective to exterminate Rift Labs.

Some Lore

The Deployed Emitter is a normal Emitter except assimilated via hostile take over of its hardcode/functionality by the Vertu Empire for the VWC project. It has armor imprinted within its structure to give it atomic grade blast resistance, both allowing it to survive a direct Strategic Missile strike (using ARG, not U232 or P234) and survive slamming into the ground at 3km/s.

The Invader Emitter itself is an encasement for the Emitter inside, hence how damage to the Invader Emitter itself has no connection to the condition of the Deployed Emitter. This “case” is heavily armored, capable of withstanding atmospheric entry to be nothing more than a heater and being near impossible to destroy before landing by non-Vertu weaponry.

1)
Only very specific sources of damage can damage this unit, this includes normal Missile Launchers oddly enough
