Novus Imperium Corporation

Welcome to a tour of the Novus Imperium Corporation's Armory. Feel free to browse, take inspiration and leave feedback on our fleet.
Novus Imperium Corporation is a private military organization, originally founded as a mercenary organization for hire by the highest bidder, we now focus our attention and resources on the new found particulate threat. Novus Imperium's engineers and designers are concerned with function, rather than form. All our ships are designed with the most practical and energy efficient use. With this looming threat on our very species the board of directors has decided to release several blueprints to the public to bolster our defense. Potential investors in Novus Imperium Corp. are asked to contact us through private channels.

Greetings Imperium Corporation. I hope your endeavor to defeat this Particulate goes well. Your ships are well made, elegant, and very efficient. My engineering chief took a particular liking to your medium vessels.

Your name sounds familiar... didn't we hire you for a short term defense contract back in our days as GalTech?

I'm afraid Novus Imperium Corp. has had no prior dealing or affiliations with other companies.

After more extensive combat trials Novus Imperium Engineers have modified designs on the following existing ship(s).
-Spatha
-Shuang Gou

Novus Imperium Corp. is also proud to reveal two new ship blueprints.
-Cutlass
-Tomahawk

The following ship(s) have been removed pending redesign and reconfiguration.

After months of extensive research and devlopment Novus Imperium Engineers are rolling out a new line of ships. These ships are designed with a new technique we've named "Muti-spacial hull design". The idea behind this new technique is to minimize armor cost without compromising protection.

Currently we're releasing four ships from this line to the public.
-Facón
A small utility ship
-Glavie
A large combat ship first created as a test-bed for larger ships. After promising trials the Glavie joins the Imperium Fleet.
-Yanmaodao
The Yanmaodao is Novus Imperium's first attempt to create a Capital Ship designed with multi-spacial hulls.  This vessel is still undergoing combat trials.
-Aegis
A capital ship designed to endure punishment.

Regarding the multi-spacial hulls: I am uncertain as to how they benefit. I've yet to find a situation where spacing the armor from the ship has a noticeable effect, with one of two special cases currently under the supervision of our research division). build cost does not increase in total, as surely you still need the same total thickness of hull? Could you possibly explain this? We happen to be curious and would like to understand this before we invest.

The short answer is that floating armour is only visually better. It takes more space, and is at least one of  the following: weaker, easily stripped, slower to build, more brittle.

It can be useful in some fleets to aid fast recognition of ships with different functions and otherwise similar designs, it can look better, and there may be rare circumstances where the pattern is more effective.

A narrative is a lightly-marked path to another reality.

that's what we figured. currently, we have one design that makes use of this(The Pathway prototype ship) though it is a highly niche weapon.
I guess someone out there will find a use for this stuff eventually.
