qople - First Person Core

canonical link to CPACK - where to get the author-maintained version

The core first person CPACK contains scripts and units that are necessary for all levels that use the gamemode.

The First Person Tools page has documentation.

Information on this page relates to the default settings. As such, specifics may vary on some maps.

Controls

  • Map movement hotkeys to move.
  • Hold shift or control to move slowly.
    • Be careful not to accidentally press shift-e, as that is the default hotkey for “edit map” and will invalidate your score.
  • Left mouse button to fire.
  • The scroll wheel rotates between unlocked weapons.
  • If unlocked, build hotkeys can also be used to switch between weapons.
  • Custom keybinds (numpad keys by default, but can be rebound at the bottom of controls settings):
    • The Custom0 key toggles autofire.
    • The Custom1 key toggles first person mode.
    • The Custom2 key enables an outline on cells with special terrain features like breeder.
      • It must be held down for 2 seconds the first time to turn it on. Holding it again toggles a more detailed mode that is harder on performance.
    • The Custom3 key brings up a menu with some information on the total strength of upgrades received.

On some maps:

  • The Custom4 key opens an upgrade menu to choose upgrades from
  • The Custom5 key or right click can be used for active abilities
  • The map zoom keys (q and z by default) rotate between active abilities if several are available
  • For more notes on the upgrade system see Auri's FPS Tools

Weapons

3 weapons are included in the core CPACK: the cannon, mortar, and sprayer. For the most part they share the same strengths as their equivalents in the base game, so this section focuses on parts specific to the game mode.

Cannon

The cannon is the least precise of the weapons to aim. It loses less damage against thin creep than the mortar, and can damage creeper in a larger radius than the sprayer with each shot.

Mortar

The mortar deals the most damage to creeper, but its small damage area means it loses much of it against thin creeper. Aiming for deeper areas and adjusting aim with each shot will help get the most out of this weapon.

Sprayer

Although the sprayer has the lowest DPS, it is often the most useful weapon at your disposal. It excels at holding ground, and deals all of its damage by depositing anticreeper, up to 25 deep.

Custom

There is support for mapmakers to create their own weapons and add them to a level. Some levels may have none, some may have several.

Units in this CPACK

  • Can make totems charge while the player is near them, and lose charge when under creeper.
