Its a long way down, but I can assure you its much safer below ground.

good map, challenging and not to tedious! I liked it. The first time I played it, I did not see the Dark Beam stuff hidden up top, was wondering how the hell to defeat that one emitter without it. Luckily I had saved just before opening that can of worms :) Hope to see more from you!

"OldMisfit" - what a great name!
Thank you for putting this together, I really enjoyed playing it.

Based on the number of people who have already finished the game, I'd say you have a real success on your hands - congratulations and make some more.

With sheer unadulturated firepower.  ;D Screenshot shows me taking it (and all the technytes around it) with only launchers, a couple blasters for the sole purpose of getting the technytes, and a line of repulsors. I Used the crystal energy trick to use more than 60 energy; but never came close to using the 122 I had available. (use maxed out in mid 70s) You'll notice I built a dark beam, but never fired it.  ;)

Pretty good map; but I was sure wishing for a few packet speed upgrades on the way down. I did manage quite a bit of the digging while working on the top emitter.

Near the end I ended up fighting on 4 fronts at once.

Power. Power! I must have more POWER!

I think it was expected for you to fly the LS down there (without even nullifying the top emitter) - but either way, if you actually flew the LS down before/after nullifying the emitter, packet travel time would become almost negligible (though I'm not sure why tech domes were disabled anyway - personally I don't like tech restrictiojns unless they're crucial for making the map work properly).

I had the same thought about being expected to dig in before engaging; but I think taking the city to the bottom would take almost as long due to all the digging required. Not to mention you'd be digging away a big percentage of your build space.

Digging the entire LS down (provided you have the energy to do so -  approximately 10 energy per second if you're digging the entire way, but in this case there are holes so it's a bit less) takes roughly as long as simply moving the LS from the top to the bottom (slightly faster). Whenever the LS gets close to the ground, the packet distance becomes negligible so you'll dig faster (in the case of 3 cost digging - the 10 or 25 cost terrain it gets a bit more complicated) - the actual math would be needlessly complicated, it would eventually come down to being able to dig as fast as the LS moves in extreme cases.

loved this map so much i decided to try to make a similar one. (hope you don't mind)
this idea of a retreat and regroup map is excellent and i hope you'll like my effort. mine should provide a different challenge though, i don't want to copy.
thanks for a fun 30 mins or so
