This topic is for discussion of map #8361: Play As Sleeper (Well, kinda)

Author: piggood
Size: 150x150

Desc:
You can play as the sleeper and make sleeper units, switch between units with Q and E, When Forge is built, you can press M to upgrade the multiplier, I'm too lazy to make forge upgrades, so the multipliers multiply unit's stats, default multiplier is 1, and increases by 0.2 per purchase Credits: Placeable detection by WithersChat PAC elemetns from the PAC template Have Fun! Kinda interesting, but I'm sure you can do way better. (And the unit placement could work while paused too)

Cool map! If you're interested, there's a newer Sleeper unit set that includes snipers, reactors, bombers, berthas, etc. Nicant made those new units, so you could try using that?
Also, if there was a way to destroy units and to drag-build units, that would be awesome!
We shall end the infinite cycle of madness!

Let's finish something with the current unit set first. (I'm working with Piggood on the next map).
Drag build units is not in the checklist, but human-controlled moves, build buttons and selection(to deactivate, disarm, destroy) are. Better forge upgrades are too.

If this map is so well rated(95th best out of 7926 maps), how will the next one be?

Here's a trick I found. You can build terps next to the void. They'll put digitalis in the void. Then the creeper will follow the digitalis into the void. Then you can build on the creeper in the void!
I have a question. What does the multiplier that you get from the forge do? Does it increase range? Fire rate? Damage? Creeper generation? Health? Something else?
Beams are completely pointless. The enemy has no flying units.
Overall this is an interesting idea, but it lacks challenge. You can keep building more and more stuff, and the AI just sits back waiting for its demise. Aside from reprogramming the AI (which is most likely impractical) I'm not sure what could be done about this.

This was intended, but might change a little in future maps.

It affects some stats, but this is going to change. (Forge-like upgrades)

Beams are not in the next PAS map.

Well, that's true. (And then you meet the PZ mortar on an island surrounded by void...)

I think the screenshots I joined to this are quite self-explainatory...
Spoiler
You'll be able to select units.

I think that the final point on my last post was misunderstood. I meant that the AI fighting against the creeper just sits back waiting for its demise. It never pushes forward or tries to kill you. That's why there's no challenge, aside from going for a fast time and climbing the leaderboard. The sleeper units are actually quite active. They often move forward and try to kill the enemy AI. Even so, the ability to control sleeper units in future maps sounds interesting.

I just wanna say, having read all posts here and completing the map, i am really looking forward to the next map, i enjoyed the AI-like advancement that the sleeper units have. allows for a relaxed game. And to the bloke complaining the beams weren't useful, at least you know you have that ability for the next map and you know what they do, this was my first sleeper map and i was so surprised by the interaction. Took a look back at Piggood's other maps, will add your name to the txt file of authors i keep track of new releases.(Yes i use Notepad to organise that)

Hmm.. Q zooms in as well, so ended flipping through units with E instead.. M did nothing apparent.. I could not build a spore tower (noth enough ether? is there a meter somewhere?)

Looking forward to a bit more 'resistance' from the AI.

I actually had the same problem when I played the map.

Well, what would you think of a Disruptor Beam trying to destroy your units?

this is excellent stuff, I really can't wait to play more like these!
I am calling it, Play as Sleeper will be the next big thing  :) :D
What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets! But enough talk, HAVE AT YOU!

Nice new way to play as creeper using "corrupted" versions of the original game units. Also much better than ordinary play as creeper which is dependent on reclaiming powerzones for emitters, this one you build up and battle to them. But also why creeper victory nullifies the only ordinary emitter on the map?
