Nice map.
I think I could have done it without the mortar

What special knowledge about emitters is needed?

Shields to force the creeper back, grab the mortar.  Build a bunch, then tear down the wall.  This forced the creeper back so I could place the nullifier.

Judging from the remake, I think the solution was meant to be
