Lots of good features here and a quick fun game.
You might re-consider your size selection. It would have been just as much fun at about half the size.
The rapidly approaching Digitalis looked scary at first, but became a non-issue when it stopped short of the fortress walls.
Put an element of danger in the game, otherwise it becomes just a speed run.

Another huge map, half-played, like someone else's leftovers, then they couldn't be bothered to finish the map, they left it for me to play.

Concur.
I wish that "steffan" would respond to some of the comments that have been left for him.
With a little bit more work (and size adjustments) he could be making some fun games.
