Now bear in mind that prices change all the time. Also new cards come out all the time. Just today I've read that AMD is readying a 7730 low-end card.

However Tom's hardware had a roundup of cards out there and compiled a list (and brief reviews with specs) of what they consider to be the best video cards in every price bracket.

Here are their recommendations at each price point: Remember, if you can snag a more powerful card at the same or lower price, then you've got a good deal. :)

Entry-level gaming:
$77  - Radeon HD 6670 DDR3
$99 - Radeon HD 7750 (fastest card that does not need auxiliary power)

Mid-level gaming:
$117 - Radeon HD 7770
$127 - Radeon HD 7790

Enthusiast:
$160 - Radeon HD 7850 2GB
$170 - GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB
$195 - GeForce GTX 660 (recent price drop)

High-end cards
$250 - GeForce GTX 760
$400 - GeForce GTX 770

Extreme:
$650 - GeForce GTX 780
$985 - GeForce GTX 690
$1,000 - Geforce GTX Titan

Given how Nvidia rules the higher-performance price competition, I suspect we'll soon see some price drops on the higher-end Radeon cards. At current prices it hardly makes sense, since Nvidia cards outperform AMD cards in most higher-end brackets.
