Bonus Mission 8: Assault. ***damn

hello,

i've been playing bonus mission 8: Assault over and over again, but cannot find a good way to defend.
read below but it contains spoilers on how the mission goes

there is limited time to setup a good defense, the creeper ''guns'' shoot the shields away with 2 blasts and by then you need about 3-4 blaster to keep the creeper from getting to close, but at this point i have no room left to build reactors because i cannot spare more energy on digging becauze i need my blaster at full energy. also when i manage to get a good defence for the creeper, the phantoms come out.

can you please share your expirence about this level and how you beatin it. thanks

Start off by getting the crystals of course - from there, you want to start getting creeper makers and the remnants. Creeper makers are *extremely* good on this level. Getting a launcher to the emitter also helps a lot - I recommend building a beacon at your base for the reactors and sending the LS out to keep the launcher powered, and build some reactors on some of the floating blocks too (there are lots of spaces on them that won't get hit). On this map, the best defense really is a good offense, once you start hitting the emitter their shots will have low density and can easily be killed by blasters, or even friendly creeper before it lands.

Umm,... i did this really cheap move to beat it . I'll share it if you'd like, but it takes a lot of fun out of the level.

by all means share it in a "spoiler" for those people out there who doesnt want to read it.

ive beaten this level by now, i never really used the maker in other levels, not even the campain, ( in some levels because i really needed to for the extra firepower, but this level is to hard without it. thanks

You can move your LS into the creeper to nullify the emitter without attacking anything - if you go through a somewhat tedious process of flying back and forth you can kill both the emitter and gateway at once too.

Did something almost the same to Kithros;
Like i mentioned above, it's really a below-the-belt move.

Basically, flew LS into the creeper, kept it in the creeper the hole time, while made nullys... used the starting things to pull it off. Ironically, the LS is safest on the opposite side of the level.

I finally managed to do this one.

I did not collect any of the crystals, but would have been easier if I had done, but destroying the creeper generator was the key for me, after that I only used 2 blasters and then a 3rd (once I had built enough generators on the floating rocks, to get rid of all the creeper.  Once I had killed off the gate too that is.

Oh, and yes, I did move to the left side of the screen.

I prefer the middle left after grabbing the goodies. It's funny that the left side of the map is relatively creeper free
