If you notice some problem, often a screenshot can demonstrate the problem. The easiest way on Windows 7 and Vista to take a screenshot is by using the Microsoft Snipping Tool. On Windows XP, you have to hit Alt-PrtSc to copy the screen into the copy buffer. Then open Paint and hit Ctrl-V to paste the contents of the copy buffer. Then save the file.

To take a screen image:

In-game:

The "backspace" key will take an image of the entire map. It will store this in your "Documents" folder in a sub-folder titled "Creeperworld2_screens". You can simply attach the .png file to a post in the forum.

Windows 7 and Windows Vista
These versions of Windows provide a utility, "Snipping Tool." Click on the Windows Start Button, or press the Windows Key on your keyboard. At the bottom of the list that opens is a search box. Type in "Snipping" and Windows will show the tool. Click on it. Usage from there on is self-evident.

Windows XP

Copy the screen contents into the Copy buffer by pressing Alt-PrtSc. Open Paint and press Ctrl-V (Paste) to paste the contents of the buffer into the Paint program. Save the file.

Apple Mac

Pres cmd+shift+4. The picture will be placed on your desktop.

Other files

Sometimes it might be necessary to investigate deeper (when something in the gameplay seems wrong, when you can't save/restore a game, etc.). In these cases you may want to upload some of the Creeperworld 2 files so Virgil can investigate.

Look for the following files:

In Windows (XP, Vista and 7):

1. Open explorer (not Internet explorer, but the file explorer).
2. In the address bar, type:  %appdata%
3. In the resulting list, look for the folder: CreeperWorld2
4. Open that.
5. In there you will find gameData.dat and also a file for every slot of the saved games. The saved game files are named slotx.cw2, where the "x" is 0 (zero) to 9.

Apple Mac

The saves games and game status file is located at <username>/Library/Preferences/CreeperWorld2

For OSX Lion the Library is hidden. So to get there open a finder window.   Here are the steps to locate the file:
To access the Library folder:

  • In the Finder, choose Go > Go To Folder.
  • In the Go To Folder dialog, type '~/Library' (the ~ represents current logged in user)
  • Click Go.

Thanks to MadMag and Echo51 for the Mac guidance and MizInIA for theOSX Lion update.
