In a locked thread SPIFFEN mentioned that he would like to have a list of members to browse. In SMF forums, that is a little bit of a security exposure. Often bots crawl member lists to harvest email addresses for spam lists. Many people do not take care to hide their email addresses in their profiles.

I think Virgil just turned off the ability to browse the member list. It makes for less administration hassle in a forum.

All the rest was just to show you how to get to a member if you want to email them, which is what you originally said.
