Fast and with a lot of lasers, the pirana is perfect for precise hit and run attacks, or, with energy support, short range escorting in heavy particulate. its range may be limited, but the amount of damage possible in that range is quite strong. In Battletech, the Piranha PRA-2 is a speedy light mech designed to fight infantry and light vehicles. initially created by Clan Diamond Shark, it was aquired by Clan Ice Hellion, who produced the -2 variant to use lasers instead of machine guns.
