the removal of all energy based long range weapons makes this an artificially long grind.  if you like that sort of thing this is the map for you!

i think a single bertha would have made this much more playable, as it is i have no desire to really get stuck in since i can see the only approach is "head vs wall" and while i love a good long grinding map i do not like to be forced to play that grind a particular way.

and was the forge being in space and a long way out just to force the player to take that sliver island early for air defence or something?  i don't really understand why you wanted it there anyway and was interested in why you made that choice in mapping.

cheers dude, keep making maps regardless of the style or design!  yours might not always be my cup of chocolate but i know others enjoy playing them so keep it up! 8)

Let me start with "thank you for playing"!

the removal of all energy based long range weapons makes this an artificially long grind.  if you like that sort of thing this is the map for you! I guess. Then again, I wanted this to be a non CRPL map, with progressive difficulty. I hope - at least - that this map isn't a map, where once you have the foothold, you have won.

i think a single bertha would have made this much more playable, as it is i have no desire to really get stuck in since i can see the only approach is "head vs wall" and while i love a good long grinding map i do not like to be forced to play that grind a particular way. I understand. The problem is that even one single Bertha could/would upset the balance and make this a speed run. Hopefully the spores and runners will make enough of a menace throughout the entire map. one thing I regret is that the runners weren't strong enough. What payload makes runners really bad? be careful, you may not like the answer to this question in the next map

and was the forge being in space and a long way out just to force the player to take that sliver island early for air defence or something?  i don't really understand why you wanted it there anyway and was interested in why you made that choice in mapping. here I disagree. Is there any other place you could have started? (unless I made a blunder, pardon my chess) if you could, please tell me, as it would have been unintentional

cheers dude, keep making maps regardless of the style or design!  yours might not always be my cup of chocolate but i know others enjoy playing them so keep it up! 8) thank you, and again - thank you for playing!

please don't even for a moment think this is a sarcastic comment. I love feedback like this. Thank you!

Dude, you know I love the maps you make that really make ya think. And maybe it's because I just came off of playing a couple of Jason Stevens' crazy hard maps, but I didn't feel threatened at all in this map. To Tek's point about feeling like the player is banging his head against the wall, I'd perhaps modify that comment a bit. I never felt stumped like I couldn't make progress (head banging on wall) but I felt like I was constantly swatting a never-ending stream of mosquitoes. They're easy to kill but so annoying.

So this battle just felt too tedious to me, sorry. Maybe some people like that but I'd have preferred 1/4 as much land and 4x as many spores.

Hint: You don't need to take any other land other than the starting island to set up a defensible base. There's enough AC and power potential in the island to fend off all the spores, which is the only threat.

Bonus Hint: To quickly find where you can land & build, select a mass of any kind of weapons and mass move them to an area. You'll be able to quickly see available land. (Just in case there are newer players reading this)

Once I'd maxed out the tech, I decided to start taking other islands. Cutting the digi is pretty easy with the vast amount of AC available plus a couple blasters or even mortars. Plenty of space for power grid on the far left island, so feel free to build a few hundred beams.

Anyway, I love most of your maps and I'm glad you're trying different things and I hope you keep it up.   ;)

Thanks for the map!  ;D

While you have no long range energy weapons you do have a ton of ore.  By the time I had the big orefield I was continuously sending out a big fleet of bombers--most of the emitters are weak, the bombers clear out any island not connected to the digitalis much faster than you can with guns.  Bypass the emitters and move on.  It only gets tricky across the top.

well, if I'm not wrong, this is the 74th slowest map in Colonial Space (by median time). I don't know whether it's good or bad, but 74 out of 9434 is less than 1 %

Job done  ;D
Keep making maps that you want to see, not everyone will like them all but the effort is appreciated all the same!

Martin Gronsdal

Thank you for playing!

It's possible that not every map comes out as good as I want it to be. This may be one of them and I agree that there is some headbutting here.

Johnny Haywire

LOL'd at "74th slowest map in Colonial Space" - grats, dude!

And I agree with Dom - make what ya like, or even what ya *think* you'll like and see what happens. A lot of your maps that I personally enjoy tremendously get some rage by other players, so to each his/her own.

And we DO appreciate your work on these maps!  ;D

Aaahhhhhh

I will almost make a new map because of this kind comment!
