Im not sure I understand what the puzzle is?

Is it that people don't know beacons fly and can land anywhere?

No, my problem was building the beacon, for which I needed to harvest greenar, which was blocked by the big high thing. What I missed was that

there was just enough room for a refinery on the other side of the big high thing, and refinery drones have a lot of range.

Very easy map and not really a puzzle at all. Admittedly I didn't know you could move beacons (TIL) but even without that info you can still build one inside the darkness if a tower outside the darkness can reach it, making it easy to reach the dark tower with a single beacon.

As for getting the greenar, the big wall isn't a barrier in the slightest. The refinery drones aren't impeded by it, so just build a refinery anywhere in range of the greenar and you're golden.
