Foothold got, but I would like to know how do I progress from here? Map seems to use SporeDistributor so I will need beams with me.

When you "abandon" the southern base..... DONT ~!
You can retain the old CN square, and enough of the digi-d track above it for relay. This allows you to enter the south, and provides much needed spore relief by presenting more target, more space to put beams.


Detected late in the game, suspect this could be one enormous gamechanger.

The small island in the very middle is weak, susceptible to assault by just a pair of cannons powered by guppy.
Take the emitter, nullify all 5 emitters around it!! AND get unlimited Berthas!
I only did this near the end, but I see no reason why not possible, even easy, much, *much* earlier

P.S.
These spore towers do something really strange.
At some point (trigger not obvious to my addled brain), they FLIPPED and became rather strong AC spores!
