Don't know about anyone else, but this is a tough way to wake up in the morning.
Fun map so far, but I am advancing VERY slowly.
Thanks for doing this.

if what you are after is not a "deathly slog" then you should possibly cool it on the spores in the early game.  :o

if you are after a high pressure start with zero room for error then you have achieved it.  ;)

but the first is the sort of map a lot of people will enjoy, the speed runners can blast through it, while the slower or less able player can take their time.

the second is what you have done here.

there is more or less no room to recover from a mistake in the first 5 seconds of play, mulitple restarts are needed to achieve a solid and secure base to progress from, and the power of the close emitters is such that the player will need to balance spore defence from minute 1 against building enough mortars and blasters to hold off the creep while they try to gain enough power to advance

i am not for option 1 or 2 particularly here dude, both are fun, but you did say
Quotefun scenarios without making it a deathly slog
and while i think this is a good map i do not think it is a "fun scenario without a deathly slog" sort of map...

it is what i consider a "hard" level map, not for new players or those who dislike pausing while playing, it is unforgiving (again, not necessarily a bad thing, but not a "fun" thing as such) and it is one that most players will restart a bunch of times.  probably offers a great sense of satisfaction too when completed...

so cheers for making maps, i am sure loads of folks will love this one as it is a great challenge (I do, this will get a bunch of replays from me for sure), but if you want most players to have some kind of fun perhaps dial back the speed the spores come at the player in the early (first 5 mins) of the game!  8)

Noted and fair point, my bad choice of wording maybe challenging without being a slog but yeah i had been playing around with the spores a lot, next couple maps im aiming to not use them at all or throw them in as a late game thing maybe, thanks for the feedback :)

there is more or less no room to recover from a mistake in the first 5 seconds of play,

The start was just a little tight. I normally don't start cussing in the first minute or two.
:)

Very impressed with the dimensions Sinman worked out. I had travelled over half way down the yellow brick road when I realized I had made a tactical error.
Will definitely give it another go and have even more fun.
Thanks again,
H

I connected my base to the first totem and went to the store. When I came back forge had 9000 aether and I upgraded everything. Loved it!

as much as i made this map as an obvious road for the creeper and us to follow i gotta admit when i did my first playthrough i found myself more or less ignoring it except where i had to cross for the islands, kinda defeated the point a bit for me

Ouf, this map was a lot tougher than it seemed at first glance.
I'm actually very happy with the 25-ish minute completion of mine.
