Just tried out the demo of CW3, liked it. Bought the full version. Dragged it into my /Applications/ folder and replaced the demo file. Now I cannot open it.

Error is simply: 'The application "CW3.app" can't be opened'

Note that this is not the same as the "because it's from an unknown developer" error.

Advice?

Here's some things to try..

- When you drag the full version into applications don't overwrite the demo.  Make sure it is uniquely named.

- Newer versions of OSX default to only allow apps signed with and Apple certificate. The error message isn't always information.  You can temporarily work around that with this procedure:
Go here and change this setting to "Anywhere":
System Preferences / Security & Privacy / General Tab / Allow apps downloaded from: Anywhere
Note that there is a lock icon in the lower left of the dialog you have to click first before you can make any changes.
Once finished, you can change the setting back to "Mac App Store and identified developers".

- The version of the game you should have is 212.  There is another version, 208, that is the same only it is built with a different version of the Unity engine.  The link for both follows.  I'd try 212 again just to make sure you don't have a corrupt download.  Then try 208 to see if that makes a difference.

- If you have steam, you can get a free steam copy of the game by entering your non-steam key on this page:
http://knucklecracker.com/creeperworld3/steamkeys.php
On steam the default version is 212.  But you can right click the game in the steam client, go to properties, then the Betas tab and select version 208 in the dropdown if 212 gives you and trouble.

-Lastly, if none of that makes a dent try an old fashioned reboot and see if that helps.  If the demo worked, then the full game should also work.  It's just a matter of corruption, permissions, security, etc.

Renaming the fie worked! I see you are "administrator" so perhaps you are the game developer? If possible, you might consider naming the demo differently to prevent this stupid user trick from happening in the future.

Thanks for the help! Fun game!
